Featuring book, music, and lyrics by Philip Labes and Michael O'Konis, with original direction by Zach Siegel, musical direction by Michael O'Konis and choreography by Dahlya Glick. The National Rifle Association is here to save the day through song and dance! Praise the lord and NRA-men! Ron Barkley (Andrew Pifko) is the head lobbyist for the NRA, and his life is tough his daughter (Marnina Schon) is a liberal socialist with a penchant for protests and granola boyfriends (Philip Labes), and for some reason, the entire country is up in arms about gun control. But when Ron prays to God for divine intervention, he receives a magical gun that turns people into guns. Because after all, if youve got problems, the solution is always More Guns! With songs like "Semi-Automatically, Everybody Do The Lobby and Liberal Love - MORE GUNS moves beyond a simple satire to provide heart and nuance to a complicated issue. This is a show for the whole family, and by whole family we mean adults only (strong language, 14+ recommended). In addition to Mr. Pifko, Ms. Schon and Mr. Labes, the San Francisco company will include Caroline Thrasher and Music Director Michael OKonis. February 03, 2020 San Francisco theatre goers got gypped! Oh, not by this sensationally funny satire on America's gun culture, but by the fact that it only got a limited three-performance run. Running for the past 18 months in LA, a musical comedy that pokes fun at our warped political processes, conservatives and 'woke' liberals is perfect fodder for San Francisco audiences. Three sold put audiences here were treated to a perfect musical comedy- great performances, a compelling story and a fantastic hummable score.

January 10, 2020 You might not be familiar with the name Philip Labes, but there's a good chance you've seen him in guest roles on buzzy TV shows like a?oeWatchmena?? and a?oeGLOWa?? or co-starring with Anthony Rapp and Cheyenne Jackson in the feature film a?oeOpening Night.a?? Or perhaps you've seen his music videos and sketches online. Mr. Labes is clearly a man with a lot of irons on the fire. He also co-wrote (with Michael O'Konis) and stars in the improbably-named a?oeMore Guns! A Musical Comedy about the NRAa?? which is coming to San Francisco's Z Space in late January after running for 18 months at Second City Hollywood. Labes is the sort of young performing arts polymath who is perhaps just that one key role or project away from becoming something of a household name. BroadwayWorld spoke to him recently from his home base in LA. In conversation, he is both joyful about his work process and sanguine about the challenges of forging a successful career in the performing arts.
