Opera Parallèle and the San Francisco Transgender District present the 5th annual Expansive concert, showcasing transgender and nonbinary singing artists as part of statewide Transgender History Month. The program, themed Revolution Is Just the Beginning, commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Compton Cafeteria Riot of 1966 and features award-winning tenor Katherine Goforth, mezzo-soprano Nina Jones, and RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16 runner-up and bass-baritone Sapphira Cristál. Host Afrika America returns for her fifth consecutive year, with musical accompaniment by Opera Parallèle's resident pianist Keisuke Nakagoshi. The program spans opera, classical art song, spirituals, musical theater, and popular songs, structured around four thematic sections curated by Goforth.
