Berkeley Playhouse closes its 2025/26 MainStage Season with Cats, music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot, running May 22 through June 14, 2026 at the Julia Morgan Theater. Directed by Kimberly Dooley, with music direction by Michael Patrick Wiles and choreography by Kevin Gruwell, the production reimagines the musical's traditional junkyard setting within a long-forgotten vintage theater, blending ballet, tap, jazz, and acrobatics with the atmosphere of an old vaudeville stage. The cast includes Kyle Herrera as Old Deuteronomy, Tielle Baker as Grizabella, Ted Sclavos as Munkustrap, and Roeen Nooran as Rum Tum Tugger, among others. The Tony Award-winning musical follows one magical night when the Jellicle tribe of cats gathers for its annual ball to decide which cat will be reborn.
