Set amidst the cornfields of Iowa in 1965, this passionate musical follows the unexpected affair of a devoted Italian-born housewife and a roving National Geographic photographer set over four sensual, heart-stirring days. Brilliantly adapted by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Marsha Norman ('night Mother, The Secret Garden, The Color Purple) with music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown (Parade), it captured the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical Score. The Bridges of Madison County, directed by TheatreWorks Artistic Director and founder Robert Kelley will be presented April 4 - 29, 2018 (opening night: April 7) at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St., Mountain View. Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) announced that 30 pastry artists from North Bay bakeries, restaurants and catering companies will participate in the annual benefit, The Art of Dessert, on Saturday, April 7, 2018 in the Center's Lytton Rancheria Grand Lobby (50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa). The Art of Dessert-now in its 15th year-features one-of-a-kind confections created by the North Bay's most esteemed pastry artists. The desserts are judged by a panel of local celebrities, and will double as artistic table centerpieces and the delectable final course. The Art of Dessert raises vital funds for the Luther Burbank Memorial Foundation, which allows LBC to engage Sonoma County residents in the power of the arts, from world class performances to nationally recognized education programs that change the lives of 40,000 children annually. Since its inception, The Art of Dessert has raised $3.2 million and helped the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts provide the enrichment of arts to more than 400,000 children.

Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, today announced the principal casting for the upcoming tour of John Neumeier's Nijinsky to San Francisco's War Memorial Opera House, April 3 – 8, 2018. Part of San Francisco Ballet's 2017/18 season, this will be the company's return to the Bay Area for the first time in 10 years. The National Ballet's appearance is part of a unique reciprocal agreement between the two companies and San Francisco Ballet will tour to Toronto to perform in an upcoming season.
