Single Tickets Now Available for the Bay Area Premiere of SOFT POWER at the Curran

Today, Carole Shorenstein Hays announced that single tickets are now available for SOFT POWER, the play featuring a musical by David Henry Hwang (play and lyrics) and Jeanine Tesori (music and additional lyrics). SOFT POWER will make its Bay Area premiere at San Francisco's Curran (445 Geary Street) June 20 - July 8, 2018. SOFT POWER is a Center Theatre Group co-commission with The Public Theater and will perform at the Curran following its world premiere at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles

Curran San Francisco Announces New Date For Patti LuPone SHOW & TELL Engagement

San Francisco's Curran theater will welcome Broadway legend Patti LuPone on Wednesday, June 13, as part of the popular SHOW & TELL series, which features provocative, topical and entertaining one-night-only events. The engagement has been rescheduled from its original date of Friday, June 1. From the White House to the Great White Way, SHOW & TELL's all-star lineup also features some of the theater's most celebrated artists, from Former FBI Director James Comey (Monday, April 23) and former White House photographer Pete Souza (Thursday, May 10) to the writers and creative minds behind SOFT POWER, David Henry Hwang and Jeanine Tesori (Thursday, May 17). Additional SHOW & TELL events include heralded award-winning playwright and actress, recently of "Black Panther" fame, Danai Gurira and Tony Award-winning director George C. TheatreWorks Silicon Valley presents the Tony Award-winning musical The Bridges of Madison County, based on the 1992 bestselling novel by Robert James Waller about love both lost and found. Set amidst the cornfields of Iowa in 1965, this passionate musical follows the unexpected affair of a devoted Italian-born housewife and a roving National Geographic photographer set over four sensual, heart-stirring days. Brilliantly adapted by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Marsha Norman ('night Mother, The Secret Garden, The Color Purple) with music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown (Parade), it captured the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical Score. The Bridges of Madison County, directed by TheatreWorks Artistic Director and founder Robert Kelley will be presented April 4 - 29, 2018 (opening night: April 7) at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St., Mountain View. Apollo's Fire Brings Monteverdi's L'Orfeo To Ann Arbor, Berkeley And Sonoma In April 2018

After a critically acclaimed East Coast Tour last month which included a Carnegie Hall debut on March 22, Apollo's Fire launches a new production of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo (Orpheus in the Underworld) starting on April 13 in Cleveland. Conducted by founding artistic director Jeannette Sorrell and directed by British stage director Sophie Daneman, the semi-staged production will include a historically reconstructed version of the work's original ending, as well as period dancers, digital scenic projections, and a stellar cast of singers. Apollo's Fire will present Monteverdi's L'Orfeo on tour at three leading American performing arts institutions; return visits to University Musical Society in Ann Arbor on April 15 and Cal Performances in Berkeley on April 20, and a debut at Green Music Center in Sonoma on April 22.

San Jose resident Francesca Stewart, now 100 years old, is one of the more than a million brides of GIs who originally came to United States due to the War Brides Act passed by Congress in 1945. She stopped by TheatreWorks' Hambly Rehearsal Hall on March 24 to share her story.
