Bubble Bubble Toil And Trouble: 7th Annual New Works Festival From 3 Girls Theater Company Takes Over Z Below For Eleven Days

3 Girls Theater Company presents the 2018 edition of its New Works Festival, this year taking place at Z Below in the Mission District. Now in its 7thyear, this year's festival is designed around the theme of "Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble," a line lifted from Shakespeare's MacBeth where three witches acting as prophets not only foretell the future, but then apply all their natural talents, inclinations and cooking skills to make it happen before serving it all up as a nice meal at their new pop-up, Burnham Wood and Dunsinane.

"What I love about this theme," says 3 Girls Theater Artistic Director AJ Baker, "is not only do these three prophetic witches foretell a scary future, but employ the most creative and creepy cooking skills in history to whip up a bubbling supernatural stew of discontent in the process. Are things as weird and wicked today as they were in 11th century Scotland? It certainly feels like it. And this is a time where artists and audiences can really step up, which is what the whole festival is about, really-giving them the opportunity to do just that."

The 2018 3GT New Works Festival features an array of one-time only line-up of original readings, performances, on-stage conversations and events designed to entertain, challenge and inspire audiences and theater-makers alike. In addition to new works on the theme, the Festival features staged readings of the two best plays from the 2017-2018 Salon Series, 3GT's core development program. 10 days of unique theater events by Bay Area women playwrights means there's something (or even many things!) for everyone!
