Turandot at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre

The Atlanta Opera presents Puccini's Turandot, opening on the exact 100th anniversary of the opera's premiere, in a new production directed by Tomer Zvulun. Soprano Angela Meade stars in the title role, with tenor Jonathan Burton as Calaf, Juliana Grigoryan as Liù, and Peixin Chen as Timur, with Iván López-Reynoso conducting. The production addresses two longstanding challenges of the work: offering an innovative solution to the unfinished ending that draws almost exclusively on Puccini's own music, while also minimizing the cultural stereotyping common in previous stagings.
