Bold Proposal presents...
Hookman by Lauren Yee
A blood-soaked, razor-sharp “existential slasher comedy” about grief, guilt, and the terrifying ordeal of growing up.
Freshman year is hard. Your roommate is weird. You’re homesick. And a hook-handed serial killer may or may not be lurking in the backseat. As Lexi tries to untangle what really happened the night her best friend died, reality fractures into flashbacks, dorm-room debates, digital overload, and deliciously gruesome horror satire.
Wildly funny and sneakily devastating, Hookman skewers teen speak, campus politics, and our culture of distraction—while digging into something much darker: responsibility, complicity, and what it means to become an adult in the 21st century. Is the Hookman real? Is grief the real killer? Pay attention to the clues.
Part slasher flick, part coming-of-age fever dream, Hookman sets the tone for Bold Proposal’s first season: daring, genre-bending work that asks big questions and isn’t afraid to draw blood. Join us at The Chain Theatre for the inaugural production—and a full week of events introducing a company committed to bold theatrical risks and unforgettable nights in the theater. Featuring: Maurie Moore* Madelyn Guyet* Charlotte B. Um Nicolette Rose Mango Nallely Pineda-Turcios Keith Robinson*
*Denotes members of Actor's Equity Association, the professional union of actors and stage managers.
