In 2004 when Green Day introduced the world to their seventh studio album it became an instant bestseller and even won the group a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2005. In 2010, the iconic album was turned into a musical which landed on Broadway in 2011 and was nominated for three Tony awards including Best Musical, winning two - Best Scenic and Best Lighting Designs. American Idiot follows a lonely, down and out Johnny as he makes the claim that he is the Jesus of Suburbia and his two friends Tunny and Will as they try to understand the chaos and changing world around them. Will decides to chug beer and get high as Tunny decides that, “to improve the world” he needs to enlist and fight the good fight. Johnny travels outside the realm of the big city and faces challenges such as a girlfriend in suburbia. During the course of one year the friends of man years fall apart and then finally make their way to the old stomping grounds.
