An Afternoon in Spain features pianist Natalia Kazaryan performing Manuel de Falla's Nights in the Gardens of Spain, alongside Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio Espagnol and a new work by Leanna Primiani titled Visions, commissioned by the WSO through the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation. The program also includes Primiani's Triptych, a set of three related pieces inspired by feminist heroes, of which The Legend of Miss Betty Zane, previously composed for the WSO, is one part.
