Fueled by legend, passion for the transcendent, and the quest for power, Antony and Cleopatra makes its debut at PSF this summer. Based on the electrifying relationship between celebrated Roman warrior Mark Antony and sultry Egyptian queen Cleopatra, Antony and Cleopatra is set amidst the impending rise of the Roman Empire and its quest to control its exotic eastern frontiers.

Actors' NET of Bucks County's production of Finian's Rainbow runs July 10 - 26. Featuring such popular tunes as 'Look to the Rainbow,' 'Old Devil Moon' and 'How are Things In Glocca Morra,' the music is by Burton Lane and the book by E.Y. Harburg and Fred Saidy, with lyrics also by E.Y. Harburg. When the leprechaun pursues an Irishman to America after his crock of gold is stolen, bedlam ensues!
Pitts. Public Theater Announces 09-10 Season, Runs Thru 6/27

Producing Artistic Director Ted Pappas has announced the line-up for Pittsburgh Public Theater's 09/10 season. The six-play subscription series begins October 1, 2009 and runs through June 27, 2010. 'Our audiences will experience a season of infinite variety,' Pappas said. 'Included are Shakespeare's best-loved play, a musical about the greatest jazz singer of all time, and a ferocious tour-de-force starring a great actress. Add to that a British comic masterpiece from a living genius and friend, a Pulitzer Prize-winning romantic comedy by an American treasure, and a sweet surprise as the finale. This season has it all,' he said. In addition, The Public will present two special engagements.
RESPECT Gets 2nd Full-Month Extension, Additional 24 Performances Through 8/2

Audiences can't get enough of Respect! With sell-outs continuing, Act II Playhouse has announced an unprecedented second full-month extension for its high-energy musical, Respect: A Musical Journey of Women. An additional 24 performances of Respect have been added July 8 through Aug. 2, bringing the total number of shows in this incredible run to 72.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust kicks off its 25th anniversary on Friday, July 17, and Saturday, July 18, 2009. The weekend includes a series of special events and projects to mark the Trust's work in transforming Downtown Pittsburgh from a blighted neighborhood into a nationally recognized model of urban transformation through the arts. The celebration will continue throughout the fall, culminating with The Cultural Trust's First Night Pittsburgh on December 31, 2009.

Backstage Bar announces July events with cabaret at Theater Square. Backstage Bar is a project of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, located in Theater Square at 655 Penn Avenue. Hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 5 p.m. - midnight; Friday, 5 p.m. - 1 a.m.; Saturday, 5 p.m.-2 a.m.; Sunday, noon - 6 p.m.; closed on Monday. There is no cover charge and happy hour is 9-11pm. The perfect meeting place-open to the public!

Point Park University junior musical theatre majors Maggie Carr and Justin Fortunato, along with Duquesne University major Bob Neumeyer, recently founded Carrnivale Theatrics, a group of music and theatre majors from local schools who are pooling their talent to raise money for charity. They will stage Sweeney Todd as their premiere production at the New Hazlett Theater, July 16 - 18, 2009. Proceeds benefit the Pittsburgh affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

York Little Theatre will present the rock opera, Tommy, July 17 - 26, 2009. Written by The Who's Pete Towshend and Des McAnuff, Tommy first premiered on Broadway in April of 1993 and ran for 899 performances. It won 5 Tony awards including Best Original Score, and 6 Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Orchestrations.

The Australian Pink Floyd returns to the Benedum Center with their biggest show yet, Big Pink Greatest Hits World Tour2009, for one night only Monday, October 5, 2009, at 8 p.m. The new tour features music from Wish You Were Here, Animals, Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall and more. In December 2007, The Australian Pink Floyd Show Dark Side of the Moon played the Benedum Center to a sell-out crowd. The Australian Pink Flood also launched The Wall tour in October 2008, selling it out as well.
