Retired New England professor Norman Thayer and his spirited wife Ethel return to their summer home on the shores of idyllic Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. Even with his memory failing, cantakerous Norman is still as tart-tongued, observant, and eager for life as ever. Ethel, ten years younger, the perfect foil for Norman, delights in all the small things that have enriched their long life together. En route to a European vacation, the couple's estranged daughter Chelsea arrives to leave behind her fiancé’s teenage son, Billy. Generations collide but soon forge common ground as Norman and "the grandson they never had" learn a thing or two from each other. And Chelsea hopes to repair the long-strained relationship with her aging father before it's too late. A tender, touching and humorous tale with themes of mortality, enduring love and forgiveness that all play out on Golden Pond. Staged with in-the-round seating.
