Southwest Shakespeare Company in partnership with Phoenix Art Museum Celebrates Black History Month and Womens History Month with a new solo show BECOMING OTHELLO: A Black Girls Journey, starring Broadway World Phoenix Award Lead Actress Debra Ann Byrd. In Becoming Othello, classical actress Debra Ann Byrd set out on a remarkable journey to take on the title role in Shakespeares Othello: The Moor of Venice. What she walked away with was a life altering experience that carried her back to a tumultuous childhood and memories that forever changed her life. Join us as she shares her gender flipped journey; complete with moving multimedia images, lyrical language, soulful songs and the music that shaped her life in her beloved Harlem.
