Fountain Hills Youth Theater to Present THE GIVER

Fountain Hills Youth Theater has announced the opening of their YABOY show of the 2014 - 2015 season, "The Giver". "The Giver" is an original dramatic adaptation of the Newberry Award winning children's novel by Lois Lowry written by Eric Coble.

"The Giver" marks our 12th annual YABOY (Young Actors Benefiting Other Youth) production. Each year we partner with a local non-profit that offers services that reflect the theme of the production. This year, I am proud to announce that we will be partnering with The Fountain Hills River of Time Museum. This production will focus on the important role that history plays in shaping the future of a society and its humanity. In this play, the world is perfect. Districts of "Sameness" have evolved where everything; life, death, career, and even the weather is controlled and set. All the memories of the community are taken from the people and given to one man to hold, so that feelings of past experiences won't impose themselves on the existence of day to day. Ultimately, choice is eliminated because when people are asked to choose, "they will always choose wrong". I feel that the museum is a great fit for this project because museums are the repository of our history and, as a wise person once said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."!

"The Giver" is directed by Ross Collins, produced by Anne Kelleher, costumes by Carrie Grief and features: Zachary Acridge, Emily Campbell, Spencer Cihak, Carlee Coulehan, Hunter DiGrazia, Elle Feinstein, Ana Hoffend, Sebastian Harris-Wylde, Connor Klein, Makayla Lopez, Keegan Luther, Kendall Luther, Katie Male, Molly Stellino, Savoy Thompson and Madelyn Varela.

"The Giver" will play Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm (with possible Matinees on Saturdays) from November 14 - November 23. Ticket prices are: $15.00 for adult and $12.00 for youth 12 and under, plus $3 handling per person. Group and student rush prices available.
