Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Metamorphoses. This co-production with the Guthrie Theater is led by nationally and internationally renowned writer and director Mary Zimmerman.

Willy Wonka and the Oompa-Loompas are joining The BFG, Matilda, The Twits, and a host of other iconic characters who have all found a brand new home together on Netflix! Netflix and The Roald Dahl Story Company jointly announced today that Netflix is extending the Roald Dahl universe of stories for global family audiences with an exclusive new slate of original animated event series, based on the books from the acclaimed and award-winning author's best-selling library, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, The Twits, and many other beloved titles.

Broadway actors James Hindman and Tom Souhrada, are returning to Riverbank Theatre's Snug Stage to perform Popcorn Falls and all proceeds will benefit Riverbank Stage Festival and Performing Arts Academy, a new initiative to bring a summer long performing arts festival to the shores of the St. Clair River. The show's Director and two-time Tony Award winner, Christian Borle is at our very own Snug Theatre helping the acting team fine tune the production for its New York debut. Borle, known for his portrayal of Black Stache in Peter and the Starcatcher, Shakespeare in Something Rotten!, and most recently Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, also had a starring role in the NBC hit Smash. James, also the playwright of the production, is a native of Michigan and is excited to have an opportunity to bring the work he loves back to his home state.

The animated classic Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' will be given new life for two special evenings at the Hollywood Bowl. Marissa Jaret Winokur joins the all-star cast as The Wardrobe, get a sneak peek at her performance of a cut song below!

'Treasure Haunters' - Vampirina and her friends help a ghost pirate search for treasure so that he can be freed from a haunted map. Tony Award-winner Christian Borle guest stars as ghost pirate, Rusty Topsail, in this upcoming episode of Disney Junior's hit animated series 'Vampirina,' premiering FRIDAY, MARCH 16 at 11:00 a.m. ET on Disney Channel and in the DisneyNOW app.

ABC News reports that an R2-D2 droid unit which was featured used in several of the STAR WARS movie franchise sold for close to $3 million at a memorabilia auction on held yesterday, June 28th. 

This week Theater Talk welcomes back two all-time favorite guests, composer/lyricist Marc Shaiman and lyricist Scott Wittman whose new show Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has just opened on Broadway. Along with them was Tony-winning director Jack O'Brien, making his first appearance on our show. The trio whose collaboration on Hairspray won them all Tony Awards and massive acclaim in 2002, have returned to Broadway with this stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic 1964 children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The musical also includes an infusion of some key songs from the 1971 film of the story, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. In addition to some snappy conversation between them, Shaiman performs several of his compositions for the new show and a delightful time is had by all.
