Video: Sam Tutty Thought Winning an Olivier Was Cool... Until Tony Came Along
Sam Tutty is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical.
In 2020, Sam Tutty took the stage at the London Palladium to accept and Olivier Award for his breakthrough performance in Dear Evan Hansen. Now, six years later, will he do the same at the Tony Awards? The Broadway newcomer shares the stage eight times a week in Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) with just one co-star, Christiani Pitts, who was also nominated.
"What I love about Christiani is that there's this energy where we were so aware that there could have been a different situation," Sam explained. "We made sure that there was always going to be space to feel sad for ourselves if if I was the one that didn't get nominated if Christiani wasn't because it's just so loud when it's just two people."
Watch in this video as Sam chats more about making his Broadway debut, why being a part of this theatre season is so special, and so much more. Plus, check out who he is up against and catch up on all the latest Tony Awards coverage!
The 79th Annual Tony Awards will air on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
