Today, Sutton Foster posted a video on Instagram of the final bows at The Music Man on Broadway, followed by a brief speech by Hugh Jackman. The actress celebrated her birthday yesterday, made even more special by Broadway's own Harold Hill conducting the audience and company of the show as they sang 'Happy Birthday' to the Tony winner.

Last night, the hugely anticipated revival of Meredith Willson's The Music Man, starring two-time Tony Award, Grammy Award, and Emmy Award-winning star Hugh Jackman as Professor Harold Hill and two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster as Marian Paroo opened triumphantly on Broadway. Just yesterday, The Music Man kicked off its opening week with a special event including an (un)official Mayoral Proclamation by Mayor George Shinn (Jefferson Mays) and a performance by The Barbershop Quartet (Phillip Boykin, Eddie Korbich, Daniel Torres, Nicholas Ward), all to celebrate the production's 21 Broadway debuts. This event marked the first time any cast members will be seen in costume outside of the theater. BroadwayWorld is taking you inside the big day!

Today we celebrate Black History Month by taking a closer look at After Midnight. Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, it played for 273 performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The revue is based on Cotton Club Parade, which ran in concert at Encores! in 2011 and 2012. The revue takes place 'after midnight' in New York's Harlem.

Today we rewind to 2012, when A Christmas Story was celebrating opening night on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where it played for 51 performances.

Today we rewind to 2015, when the first Broadway revival of On the Twentieth Century opened at the American Airlines Theatre, where it ran for 144 performances.

Today we rewind to 2011, when Tony winner Hugh Jackman returned to Broadway in his solo show. Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, which featured direction and choreography by Warren Carlyle, ran for 61 performances at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Today we rewind to 2014 to take a closer look at After Midnight, which at the time featured special guest star Vanessa Williams. After Midnight, directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, played for 273 performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. 

Jerry Zaks knew he had a busy year ahead when 2020 began. The four-time Tony winner started the year in rehearsals for Mrs. Doubtfire, which began previews at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on March 9. Of course, plans changed when Broadway shut down on March 13, leaving an unsure future for the musical, as well as Zaks' next project, the fall revival of The Music Man.

'We close things out with a look at the 48th production of City Center's famed Encore's, the glorious musical Finian's Rainbow, which starred Kate Baldwin, Cheyenne Jackson, Jim Norton and Terri White. It was directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle. Kate told me, 'I get to sing the most beautiful songs. I think Burton Lane was a master of melody.' Cheyenne said he knew the songs but didn't really know the story, 'It's very, very current. I was actually surprised. The main crux of the plot is a bigoted white man in power from the south who is being replaced by an open-minded black man. Hmmm. So, it's very current.''
