Understudies are the unsung heroes and the backbone of the theatre industry - and actress/singer Ceili O'Connor is a quintessential and literal unsung hero, having understudied in various productions for five years without ever actually having the opportunity to go on in the lead roles she has covered. Most recently, at the Arts Theatre's studio space, Above The Arts, she finally got the chance to showcase her talent in her own solo cabaret, The Understudy - Waiting In The Wings.

Full casting is announced for the new London production of the acclaimed Broadway musical Grand Hotel, produced by Danielle Tarento and directed by Thom Southerland, the award-winning tream behind Titanic, Parade and Mack & Mabel. Stage Entertainment, Glass Half Full Productions and Just for Laughs Theatricals presents MADE IN DAGENHAM, which will open at the Adelphi Theatre on Wednesday 5 November, with previews from Thursday 9 October. Based on the hit British film, this new musical comedy will star international stage and screen actress GEMMA ARTERTON in the lead role of Rita O'Grady, with ADRIAN DER GREGORIAN as her husband Eddie. Earlier this fall, as part of the St James' Studio Cabaret Weekends, Jonathan Reid Gealt showcased his new album 'Here For You - Ballads for Broadway Impact'. Produced by ILIADebuts in association with Theatre Bench, the concert included songs from his new album as well as 'Thirteen Stories Down' and exclusives from his new musical 'Dust and Shadow'. Following last year's sell-out success, MAD presented this year's annual festive fundraiser at The Actors' Church, Covent Garden, A WEST END CHRISTMAS. The event took place on December 4, and guests perfoming included: Peter Bowles, Maureen Lipman, Nigel Harman, Alison Jiear, Scott Garnham, Will Barratt & Keiran B. Brown, alongside West End Casts including: Disney's The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Shrek, 39 Steps and Legally Blonde. The evening also featued an original song by Bobby Cronin and Angelyn Benson from their adaptation of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, performed by Jye Frasca (JERSEY BOYS, THRILL ME).
