Ahead of the 35th Birthday of The Phantom of the Opera, new show footage has been released! THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA stars double Olivier Award nominee Killian Donnelly as ‘The Phantom’, Lucy St Louis as ‘Christine Daaé’ and Rhys Whitfield as ‘Raoul’.

BroadwayWorld has learned that Spectra Musique will present a concert version in French of the musical THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA in Montreal. In a staging by Etienne Cousineau, 20 singers and an orchestra of 40 musicians will share the stage to give life to the characters inspired by the famous novel by Gaston Leroux and the musical work of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Before Wednesday night's performance of Broadway's longest-running musical, The Phantom of the Opera, the show's original music director, David Caddick, made a poignant speech about the show's beloved director Hal Prince, who passed away on Wednesday morning. Be sure to check out the full tribute.

Today in 1987, Starlight Express opened at the Gershwin Theatre, where it ran for 761 performances. Starlight Express is a rock musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber (music), Richard Stilgoe (lyrics) and Arlene Phillips (choreography), with later revisions by Don Black (lyrics) and David Yazbek (music and lyrics for the 2nd US tour). The story follows a child's dream in which his toy train set comes to life; famously the actors perform wearing roller skates.
