On April 24 and April 25, the New Amsterdam Theater will host the 20th Annual Easter Bonnet Competition. What started out in 1987, backstage at the Palace Theater, raising 18 thousand dollars, has grown into an event which has raised over 20 million dollars (in total) for BC/EFA. Today, Saturday, April 10, Tony-winner Donna McKechnie will premiere her new one-woman show, My Musical Comedy Life, at the Springside Inn in Auburn New York. McKechnie, who won a Tony for her performance as Cassie in A Chorus Line, played the inn last night as well. Richard Jay-Alexander will direct the shows with musical direction by Eugene Gwozdz. The series, its inaugral year, is being produced by Barbara Walsh (Thommie's sister), Baayork Lee (who starred in A CHORUS LINE with Thommie) and Merete Muenter.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Outreach Division will perform William Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' tonight. The cast are members of the Outreach Division's Adler Youth Group, a free year-long after-school program. The students chosen for the program learn the same acting technique that helped cultivate the talents of Stella Adler alumni like Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando. This performance serves as a milestone project of the program, which has helped students gain confidence, avoid common urban influences like gangs and drugs, and provide a sense of community that will continue long after the program.
