Westport Country Playhouse will stage the recent Off-Broadway hit, 'The Understudy,' a backstage comedy about a Hollywood action star rehearsing for a role on Broadway amid tensions with his understudy.  The cast includes Eric Bryant, Connecticut Critics Circle Award winner; Brett Dalton of ABC's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'; and Andrea Syglowski, award-winning actress. Running August 14 through September 1, the comedy is written by Theresa Rebeck, creator of NBC's show business drama, 'Smash,' and directed by David Kennedy, Westport Country Playhouse associate artistic director.

INSIDE THE MANSON CULT: THE LOST TAPES, a new two-hour true crime special about Charles Manson and his gang of blindly loyal followers, will air Monday, Sept. 17 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, it was announced today by Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment and Specials, Fox Broadcasting Company. The special will be narrated by Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee Liev Schreiber (“Ray Donovan”).

Oxygen Media, the network for high-quality crime programming, launches the 24th season of the critically-acclaimed franchise 'Snapped' with the infamous case of Amy Fisher and Mary Jo Buttafuoco, premiering on Sunday, August 19th at 6PM ET/PT. The special will break down how a shadowy affair led a jealous teenager to commit a brash act of violence, and after 25 years we hear from the surviving victim herself as she sheds light on her side of this notorious scandal that rocked America. Westport Country Playhouse stages the lavish, large-cast comedy, "A Flea in Her Ear," newly adapted by David Ives from the original by Georges Feydeau, and directed by Mark Lamos, Westport Country Playhouse artistic director.  Fresh from a sold-out run by Delaware's Resident Ensemble Players (REP), a professional theater located at the University of Delaware, the co-production with the REP runs in Westport July 10 - 28.

THE FULL MONTY, a musical with Music and Lyrics by David Yazbek and Book by Terrence McNally, opens on January 26th and is set to run through February 25th at San Diego Musical Theatre. The musical comedy follows six friends recently laid off from their Steel Mill jobs. In need of money to support their families, these 'average joes' decide to turn to a more unassuming way to make some extra cash: stripping.
