TV: THE LITTLE MERMAID Swims Into Music Theatre Wichita

Music Theatre Wichita concludes its 2018 Season with the return of Disney's "The Little Mermaid," directed and choreographed by Linda Goodrich, with musical direction by Thomas W. Douglas. The 60-member cast includes Broadway veterans working alongside some of the nation's most promising new talent, all showcased in an brand-new staging, featuring imaginative sets and costumes inspired by the classic Disney film. In 2011, Music Theatre Wichita was one of the first three theatres in the country to receive permission from the Disney Company to produce this title following its Broadway run, and the new edition marks the local premiere of the newly revised script and score. "The Little Mermaid" runs for ten performances, August 8-18 at the Century II Concert Hall in downtown Wichita, Kansas.

Music Theatre Wichita continues its 2018 Season with one of the first regional productions of the newly revised Pippin, reflecting the changes composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz and librettist Roger O. Hirson introduced in the 2013 Broadway revival. Directed and choreographed by Emmy-nominated Al Blackstone ("So You Think You Can Dance"), the lavish production features a 32-member cast in an all-new staging. The fourth of five self-produced musicals in MTWichita's 2018 season, the run continues through July 29. Disney's The Little Mermaid will conclude the season August 8-18.

Tony Award nominees Norm Lewis and Carolee Carmello have just joined the Tooting Arts Club production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, now playing at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street, NYC). In addition to Lewis and Carmello as Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett, the cast includes Stacie Bono (as Pirelli & Beggar Woman), Matt Doyle (as Anthony), Alex Finke (as Johanna), Jamie Jackson (as Judge Turpin), John-Michael Lyles (as Tobias) and Tony Award nominee Brad Oscar (as The Beadle).

Producers of the Tooting Arts Club production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street just announced that New York audiences can now 'attend the tale' through December 31, 2017 with a new block of tickets on sale today. Plus, a limited number of tickets at each performance (starting tonight!) will be available through a TodayTix digital lottery. Sweeney Todd, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book byHugh Wheeler from an adaptation by Christopher Bond, and directed byBill Buckhurst, officially opened last night at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street).

DEEP Arts in association with The New York Musical Theatre Festival presents the NY Premiere of Moses Man with book & lyrics by Deborah Haber and music by Casey Filiaci, directed by Michael Bush. The show will be feature choreography by Wendy Seyb with musical direction by Don Kot. Moses Man will play from July 8-13, 2015 at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).
