On April 4, Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe presented its lively and music-filled fundraiser, the April Fools Fête, in the ballroom at Michael’s On East. This year’s country-themed celebration was a sold-out success, with 300 community members in attendance – most of them wearing cowboy and cowgirl-appropriate attire. The event raised more than $200,000 in support of WBTT’s education programs.

The Warner Theatre will welcome STEVE EARLE & THE DUKES to the Main Stage on Thursday, June 16 at 8 pm. Tickets are on sale to Warner Members Tuesday, March 8 at 10 am and to the General Public Friday, March 11 at 10 am.

The song is the second unveiled from Vile’s highly-anticipated new album, (watch my moves), which will be released April 15 on Verve Records—his first in partnership with the label (pre-order). Recorded mainly at OKV Central—Vile’s newly created home studio in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia—(watch my moves) was self-produced along with help from longtime collaborator Rob Schnapf (Richard Thompson, Elliott Smith). “When Waylon Jennings became an outlaw country artist, he liked to record at Hillbilly Central, which was Tompall Glaser’s studio,” Vile shares. “OKV Central is my version of that in Mount Airy. I’ve come into my own here, and at the same time I’m getting back to my home-recording roots.” 

The first singles came about after Shaw ventured to Nevada for the “National Cowboy Poet Gathering,' which included an encounter with Canadian country artist Corb Lund’s guitar player and now-He Rode On producer Grant Siemens, Shaw learning the fine art of yodeling, having the legendary Ramblin’ Jack Elliot sign his guitar. For genre-bending band Whiskey Myers, 2019’s self-titled and self-produced album offered a watershed moment. The album features a core band of Tom Bukovac, band leader Biff Watson and bluegrass award winner Seth Taylor, who joined Grammy-winning Dan Tyminski on acoustic and mandolin, dobroist Ben Kitterman, and supplemented with Sturgill Simpson vet Laur Joamets acoustic slide and baritone where needed and Jim Moose Brown on keyboards.

On their sophomore album, Stone Sessions, The Waymores play authentic country music with an Americana flourish, combining elements of folk, blues and Honky Tonk into an instantly recognizable sound. Willie Heath Neal’s husky baritone and the warm alto of Kira Annalise compliment each other perfectly.

The historic Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville, Tenn. will induct country legend Bobby Bare. Bare’s star will be revealed on the walkway at Music City Walk of Fame Park located in SoBro amongst fellow inductees Dierks Bentley, Keb’ Mo’ and Connie Smith. The park is located directly across from the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The Crickets will celebrate the 65th anniversary of their very first hit song this year, “That’ll Be The Day,” the iconic rock and roll classic written by Buddy Holly and Jerry Allison (produced by Norman Petty, who also received songwriting credit). Shannon McNally, the voice and brains behind THE WAYLON SESSIONS, a record of classic Waylon Jennings songs, has released another track from the forthcoming album, 'Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys.' McNally debuted the track via Austin American Statesman, of which Peter Blackstock wrote about her delivery and the song's history:
