The film will be followed by a conversation about the physical and psychological effects of trauma, and how to navigate through personal life challenges. She will also perform Through a Soldiers Eyes, a song she wrote to honor members of the military.

When Seattle Opera opened the doors to its new facility at Seattle Center last year, the company promised that the new, highly visible location would help more people find and experience opera. This fall, the company's first chamber opera in the building is sure to do just that. The Falling and the Rising, a new American work, is based upon a series of interviews with returning soldiers at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, The Old Guard at Fort Myer, and Fort Meade, Maryland.

TCU Announces World Premiere Opera in Partnership with US Army

The new opera paints a powerful portrait of the incredible resiliency, fortitude and heroism of our nation's wounded warriors, and is the culmination of a large-scale project commissioned by TCU together with the Arizona Opera, San Diego Opera, Opera Memphis, Seagle Music Colony, Seattle Opera and the U.S. Department of Defense. A product of the TCU School of Music's dedication to commissioning new music, The Falling and the Rising will premiere at 7 p.m. April 6 at Ed Landreth Hall and Auditorium and run for five performances.

Country Star Craig Morgan and Operation FINALLY HOME Surprise Disabled Veteran With New Home

Country music entertainer, award-winning TV host and Army veteran Craig Morgan had a big surprise up his sleeve Friday (Feb. 23) at the Grand Ole Opry. During his performance, Morgan invited his long-time friend, U.S. Army SFC Josh Ferguson, a disabled veteran, and his family onto the stage and surprised them with the news they are receiving a custom-built, mortgage-free home this year in Dickson County (Tennessee) from Operation FINALLY HOME.  Joining Morgan onstage for the surprise was Operation FINALLY HOME founder Dan Wallrath and Executive Director Rusty Carroll.
