True Ability is taking over the City Library and bringing a series of intimate interactions to create understanding, empathy and promote human rights, inclusion and diversity.

The American Classical Orchestra (ACO), New York City’s leading period instrument orchestra, has announced its 2022-23 season of four orchestral concerts conducted by Founder and Artistic Director Thomas Crawford, beginning on Thursday, September 22, with the first of three performances at Alice Tully Hall, and continuing through May 18, 2023. The soloists will include soprano Yulan Piao, mezzo-soprano Heather Petrie, tenor Lawrence Jones, bass Joseph Charles Beutel, pianist Petra Somlai, and violinist Rachell Ellen Wong.

Marking its 25-year anniversary, the world-famous, award-winning musical is set for a historical 4-week run in the UAE capital from November 16 to December 10 at Yas Island's Etihad Arena.

Oklahoma International Dance Festival returns for its second in-person dance intensive since its inception in 2020.  The Festival, which will run from July 17 to 31 at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, OK, was formed to educate, enrich, and entertain through the highest quality of dance. 

It may be a product of its time, but what a surprisingly weird, subversive show it can be.

Miki Ratsula has shared their gender neutral cover of One Direction’s “Steal My Girl,” from their gender neutral covers EP. The new project was co-produced by Miro Mackie (St. Vincent, KALI) and features additional covers of songs by Phoebe Bridgers, Harry Styles, Angus & Julia Stone and the EP’s first single, a stunning cover of Dodie’s “she.”

The Public Theater has announced the cast for Tony Award winning musical Once on This Island: A Musical, featuring a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, music by Stephen Flaherty and based upon the novel My Love, My Love by Rosa Guy.

Imagination Stage™, the metro DC region’s largest professional theatre for young audiences, announced its six shows for 2022-2023, which include two newly-commissioned world premieres, two musicals based on popular books, and two favorites especially for the very youngest theatre-goers. 

What did our critic think? Split Stage continues to provide a haven for adult-oriented semi-pro theatre. The plot, overly convoluted by design, parodies eighties movie comedies with a 'let's save the rock venue' stream of cliches that get mercilessly savaged. Wannabe rocker Drew (Gabe DeRose) can't seem to make a love connection with nubile waitress Sherrie (Raegan Hochman), while German real estate developer Hertz (Hank Fodor) and his effeminate son Franz (Caleb Feigles) attempt to turn the Sunset Strip into a strip mall. All this mixes with a stream of colorful characters like a hair metal rock god (Michael David Stoddard), a social reformer hippie (Clair Ivy Stoller) and pair of chaotic-bisexual club owners (Josh Reardon and Bill Elder).

What did our critic think? There are a few cultural institutions in the Pittsburgh area of which I'm not just a supporter, I'm an outright stan. Chief among these are the Pittsburgh CLO summer season, the annual farce at Saint Vincent Summer Theatre (more on that later this week), and the Bites and Pints festival at Kennywood. I love live music, delicious food, thrill rides, even the dubious charms of seeing a guy walk around in a kangaroo costume on a hot summer day. (That poor Kenny Kangaroo is a real sport to play along as much as he does.)
