Rubicon Theatre Company has announced the launch of its new special event series, “VENTURA LIVE! Music, Laughter and Magic,” featuring one-night and short-run concerts, jam sessions, new play readings, magic nights, comedy, and much more.

Rubicon Theatre, Ventura County's leading not-for-profit professional theatre company, committed to entertaining, engaging and enriching the community through live performance, has announced the eagerly anticipated Kids for Kids Benefit Concert, “WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW…” an enchanting evening of music and entertainment featuring the timeless melodies of Burt Bacharach and Friends, Saturday, August 19th at 7:00 PM.

Rubicon Theatre wraps up its extraordinary 2019 Jack Oakie Summer Youth Program with the annual Kids for Kids fundraiser. This year's concert is titled a?oeBroadway Through the Ages.a?? This exuberant evening of song and dance will be guided entirely by student directors, choreographers and designers, and will feature some of Broadway's hottest tunes including a?oeEpic 2a?? (Hadestown), a?oeGod, I Hate Shakespearea?? (Something Rotten), a?oeA Change in Mea?? (Beauty and the Beast), a?oeAstoundinga?? (Little Women), a?oeYour Daddy's Sona?? (Ragtime), a?oeNowadaysa?? (Chicago), a?oeHopelessly Devoted to Youa?? (Grease), a?oeNothinga?? (A Chorus Line), and more! Songs will be performed by students from across all of the summer programs.

Concertworks today announced that two of Australia's most popular musical theatre performers, Anthony Warlow and Jemma Rix will star in the first Australian concert production of Jekyll & Hyde in Melbourne on Friday 25 October and in Sydney on Saturday 2 November 2019.

Rubicon Theatre Company has announced what is expected to be the biggest and most extraordinary Kids for Kids Benefit Concert in the company's history for Saturday, December 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the theatre, located at 1006 E. Main Street in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District. More than 70 young people will be performing onstage or via video in an entertaining musical variety show that raises funds for scholarships for next summer's education and outreach participants. 

Filling the National Theatre to its very brim, both on and off the stage, CLOC's production of Les Miserables is remarkable.

'Tell me a story,' Christine's daughter, Victoria, requested one night several years after the mother and her then 11-year-old daughter spent an intense seven months in and out of Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Diagnosed with a germinoma brain tumor, Victoria underwent surgery, chemo, and radiation. One night after Christine spontaneously made up the tale of Willow, her daughter told her the story had made her cry-in a good way. Christine knew she had a winner, recording it in her writing journal so she wouldn't forget it. Willow is about an Old World Swallowtail butterfly born into the mountains of Colorado who marvels at her existence, but begins to doubt she has a special purpose, when a man-made fire changes her life and her mountain home forever. ''Wondrous Willow' is not only dedicated to Victoria for what she courageously endured, but to families around the world who have, or currently are braving the illness of a loved one. I wanted Victoria to know that though life is challenging at times, everything is purpose-filled, including her,' says Horner. 'There is even a Willow's Wonders Club for Kids at www.wondrouswillow.com.' 17-year-old Joey McGrellis, the book's illustrator, also came by way of Victoria when she mentioned a friend's doodling had become so popular, he regularly received requests. Christine was pleasantly surprised to find out Joey was head of his high school's art department and quickly asked for a sample of his artwork. The book includes a special message from the author and a thank you to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. "Wondrous Willow" comes on the heels of Christine's summer non-fiction release, "Awakening Leadership: Embracing Mindfulness, Your Life's Purpose, and the Leader You Were Born to Be." Her next project is her first novel, "Crystal True," the first in a trilogy based on a screenplay she wrote in 2014 for a writing contest, publishing in 2016. All proceeds to benefit Joey McGrellis and Victoria Horner's college education. Yugen Press is a fiction imprint of In the Garden Publishing.
