BWW News: Studio Theatre Launches Virtual PSALM'S SALONS AT STUDIO With DC-Based Director, Theatre-Maker, Artist-in-Residence Psalmayne 24

Studio Theatre, in collaboration with Studio Artist-in-Residence Psalmayene 24, is launching a three-part series of digital dance parties with conversation—Psalm's Salons at Studio—beginning June 25 at 5 p.m. The virtual salons are an online gathering space to highlight the work of Black creatives, signal boost local and Black-owned businesses, kick back to live music, and promote a sense of community. Salons will be hosted by Psalmayene 24 with original music from DJ Nick tha 1da, sampling from the Library of Congress's Citizen DJ tool, and a rotating panel of guests. Events in the series are free to view and will be streamed live on Studio Theatre's Facebook and YouTube pages.

NY Classical Theatre Presents A Free Virtual Reading Of KING LEAR

NY Classical Theatre, New York City's all-free Off-Broadway Equity theatre company, will present a free virtual zoom reading of William Shakespeare's King Lear on Thursday, June 25 at 8:00 pm, as a fundraiser for an intended full production later this year.

Cavetown Releases Highly-Anticipated New Album SLEEPYHEAD

U.K. indie pop artist Cavetown has released his major label debut album, SLEEPYHEAD, today on Sire Records. Written, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Cavetown himself in the bedroom of his London home, the 11-song collection includes recently-released song “I Miss My Mum” and lead single, “Sweet Tooth.” Today at 12pm PST/3pm EST, Cavetown will host an album listening party on Instagram as part of Cavetown TV, which he recently launched after he was forced to cancel all album release fan events and concerts due to COVID-19. David Dawson And Lyndsey Marshal Will Lead THE TWO CHARACTER PLAY At The Hampstead Theatre

Hampstead Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for Tennessee Williams' innovative, and partly autobiographical work, The Two Character Play. Acclaimed stage and screen actors, David Dawson and Lyndsey Marshal, will perform in this unique two-hander which Williams called 'My most beautiful play since Streetcar, the very heart of my life'. The production, directed by award-winning theatre and film artist, Sam Yates, will run from 24 April until 23 May 2020.

Chris Bandi Makes Grand Ole Opry Debut

Breakthrough singer/songwriter and RECORDS artist Chris Bandi made his Grand Ole Opry debut on Tuesday, February 25 taking his first steps inside the circle, witnessed by an audience full of fans, friends, and family.  After an introduction by host, Bill Cody, Bandi delivered an energetic set, including unreleased songs “What If We Don't,” and “They Make Whiskey,” closing out with his redemptive hit single, “Man Enough Now.”  The coming-of-age tempo track, written by Bandi along with Jason Massey and Jason Duke, has racked up over 75 million streams and counting and is impacting country radio now.

Brendan Coyle of DOWNTON ABBEY Will Lead the Goodman Theatre's MOLLY SWEENEY; Full Cast Announced!

Goodman Theatre Artistic Director Robert Falls has announced casting for his upcoming revival of Molly Sweeney by Brian Friel. In assuming the title role, Chicago favorite Kate Fry returns to the Goodman, following her recent appearance in Falls' production of The Winter's Tale. Joining Fry are stage and screen star Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey), who returns to the Goodman following his triumphant appearance in last season's St. Nicholas by Conor McPherson, and Chicago's Christopher Donahue (Oedipus Rex at Court Theatre, Moby Dick at Lookingglass).

Rachel Tucker Will Join Cast of COME FROM AWAY as Beverly Bass

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Rachel Tucker will return to Broadway this spring in Come From Away as Beverly Bass- a role she currently plays in the London production. Rachel will join the company on March 3, 2020.
