Gibney Company Welcomes Six New Dancers

Gibney Company, the resident company of Gibney, the New York City-based dance and social justice organization, welcomes six new Company members, known as Artistic Associates.

BWW Interview: Theatre Life with Renée Fleming

Renée Fleming's long and distinguished career includes performing in some of the world's most famous opera houses, performing on Broadway, and being heard on many recordings singing everything from arias to showtunes. Tonight Ms. Fleming will add another honor to her canon as she and Vanessa Williams will become the first artists to perform a live indoor concert onstage at Kennedy Center's Opera House. The evening is entitled A Time to Sing: An Evening with Renée Fleming and Vanessa Williams. 92Y Announces New Online Dance Workshop Series

The Harkness Dance Center announces a new Artist Workshop Series of online master classes with current and former Artists in Residence, featured choreographers and presented performers. Workshops take place every other Saturday throughout the fall starting on Saturday, September 26, offering access to some of the most engaging, insightful, and motivational artists currently creating work in the dance world.

The Poetry Coalition Presents 2020-2021 Fellows

The Poetry Coalition, a network of 25+ poetry organizations, is presenting its inaugural cohort of the Poetry Coalition Fellowship program. These five individuals have been selected to receive paid fellowships, each at a different host organization within the Poetry Coalition: CantoMundo, Cave Canem, Kundiman, Mizna, and Split This Rock.

The Shed to Reopen on October 16 with Solo Exhibition by Howardena Pindell

The Shed announced today that it will reopen on Friday, October 16, with the new solo exhibition Howardena Pindell: Rope/Fire/Water, examining the violent, historical trauma of racism in America and the therapeutic power of artistic creation. After closing on March 13 in response to New York City's efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, The Shed will welcome back visitors, Thursdays through Sundays, with enhanced health and safety protocols, as well as free admission to the exhibition through October 31.

In two conversations about the long-term, disproportionate effects of pollution on communities of color as part of The Shed's online series Up Close, artist Tomás Saraceno invites science journalist Harriet A. Washington to join him in discussion (part one) and then convenes New York City activists to reflect on the severity of the pandemic's inequitable impact in the United States (part two).
