Pianist/Composer Dr. Nnenna Ogwo returns to Joe's Pub for her annual Juneteenth Celebration, an event which takes its name from the announcement of the emancipation of slaves on June 19, 1865 in Galveston, Texas. Known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day, Nnenna marks the occasion by reveling in the music of those that took their freedom and made art.

After a critically acclaimed run this spring, A WHITE MAN'S GUIDE TO RIKERS ISLAND returns this summer for an extended run. Based on a true story, it is written by Richard Roy (Richard III with Denzel Washington) and Eric C. Webb, directed by Thomas G. Waites (Awake and Sing! starring Frances McDormand, King Richard III starring Al Pacino), and stars Richard Roy and Connor Chase Stewart.

FRIGID New York @ Horse Trade/New York Madness present this year's selection for the annual MadLab Reading: you're (no) good or a priori a posteriori by Nico Grelli. The reading will be on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 8pm at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery), directed by Nidia Medina. New plays by NYM Company which which developed from a short play written for NY Madness were eligible for the MadLab series.
