MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET Comes to Broadway By The Bay, Today

Broadway By the Bay continues their 2018 season with the rockin' Broadway smash, Million Dollar Quartet. In December 1956, in a small Memphis recording studio, four icons of music met-and had a jam-session that changed rock-n-roll forever. Broadway By the Bay invites music lovers of all ages to take their seats at the historic Fox Theater in downtown Redwood City as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins take to the stage for this story of a singular moment in rock-n-roll history, and a night of legendary music that lived on in infamy. Million Dollar Quartet runs for nine performances only beginning June 8, 2018.  Tickets (ranging from $44-$66) are available by calling (650) 369-7770 or by visiting online at www.broadwaybythebay.org. Palo Alto Players opens its 2017-18 season with the South Bay regional premiere of Million Dollar Quartet, the high voltage Broadway musical inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll legends Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins for one unforgettable night of musical magic.  Million Dollar Quartet is directed by Jeffrey Bracco, musically directed by Katie Coleman, and features a cast of local Bay Area actors and musicians playing instruments live on stage as their iconic characters.  Million Dollar Quartet runs September 15 - October 1 at the Lucie Stern Theater, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre will give Bay Area audiences their first look at the 2014 revised version of the acclaimed Broadway musical Side Show. This dazzling work, featuring music by Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls), and book/lyrics by Bill Russell (Pageant, Lucky Duck), was nominated for four 1998 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, and Best Actress. The 2014 revival, which incorporates a revised script and several new songs, received additional critical acclaim, was nominated for five Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Revival, and was awarded the 2015 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Musical. Side Show is based on the true story of Daisy and Violet Hilton, conjoined twins who rose from a sideshow attraction to become sensational vaudeville stars in the 1930s. Side Show will be directed by Milissa Carey, with musical direction by Dolores Duran-Cefalu, and choreography by Brett and CJ Blankenship and will playMarch 2 - 19, 2017 (press opening: March 3, 2017) with performances 7:30pm Thursdays, 8:00pm Fridays & Saturdays, and 2pm Sundays at the Lohman Theatre, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Los Altos Stage Company's 20th season comes to a close with the off-Broadway hit musical that the New Yorker called 'a giggly cult hit', Bat Boy: The Musical, with book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming, and music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe. Bat Boy: The Musical opens May 27 (preview performance on May 26) and runs through June 25, 2016 at the Bus Barn Theater in Los Altos.
