'The 53rd Annual CMA Awards,' hosted by Carrie Underwood with special guest hosts Reba McEntireand Dolly Parton, began the show with an opening number celebrating the women of country.

Women in Country Music will unite for a historic, not-to-be-missed opening performance at a?oeThe 53rd Annual CMA Awards.a?? The groundbreaking number led by Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton will also feature Terri Clark, Sara Evans, Crystal Gayle, The Highwomen (comprised of Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires), Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Tanya Tucker and Gretchen Wilson, each performing iconic Country songs for a monumental decades-spanning medley never before seen. 

For their second show of the 2019-2020 season, Wichita Community Theatre presents Tom Mula's Almighty Bob. The plot, simple yet fun, centers around Bob, a fresh-faced nursing home patient to Dr. Wally's care home after Bob's daughter Karen drops him off for a trial run visit. Bob, however, thinks that he is God. Taking place in a homey, sunny a?oequiet rooma?? of a small, pleasant, well-tended assisted-living facility, extraordinary, miraculous and comedic things begin to happen and take shape throughout the production which is directed by John Reel. Almighty Bob is currently running October 16-27 at 258 N. Fountain in College Hill, Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m

Steve Poltz has been described as a?oequite possibly the most talented and engaging solo performer on this planeta?? by Front Porch Music. The alternative folk singer, songwriter and all-around  free spirit has enjoyed a colorful career since striking out with San Diego cowpunk cult favorites the Rugburns in the early '90s. Along the way, the Canadian-American co-wrote Jewel's 1995 hit 'You Were Meant for Me,' and made a short major-label run of his own. Multi-platinum a?oemystery mana?? Jack Tempchin of Eagles songwriting fame, opens the show.  Poltz and company will take command of the Poway Stage on Saturday, November 2 starting at 8 p.m.

CMT today announced that its new gameshow series, a?oeCMT's Nashville Squares,a?? will kick off with a two-episode premiere on Friday, November 1st at 8p/7c. Hosted by comedian Bob Saget, the all-new series puts a country music twist on the classic game show a?oeHollywood Squares,a?? following in the footsteps of hit series a?oeVH1's Hip Hop Squares,a?? by staying true to the beloved tic-tac-toe format and infusing it with some of the most influential and charismatic personalities in country music, pop culture, entertainment, sports, fashion, comedy and more.

The Country Music Association has selected rising Country artists Angie K, Everette and Kylie Morgan as recipients of the second annual CMA KixStart Artist Scholarship. Throughout the year-long program, which officially launches Tuesday, Oct. 1, CMA will mentor the artists, connect them with top industry professionals, as well as provide them opportunities to participate in CMA-related events during CMA Awards, CMA Fest, international events and CMA Foundation programs. In addition to participating in these events, each KixStart artist will receive a stipend to assist with various facets of their developing career.

GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter and performer Brandi Carlile won Artist of the Year at last night's Americana Music Association Honors & Awards. Carlile also performed “The Mother” at the awards ceremony, which will be broadcast on PBS on Saturday, November 23.

The country icon, who recently appeared on a?oeThe Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallona?? and a?oeTODAYa?? to promote her new album While I'm Livin', will bring a set list of iconic hits, new songs and a few special guests for Tanya Tucker & Friends at the Ryman. NPR Music, in partnership with the nationally-syndicated World Cafe daily music program produced by WXPN/Philadelphia, WMOT Roots Radio, and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC), will co-produce the AmericanaFest Day Stage as part of the 20th annual Americana Music Festival & Conference (AmericanaFest) taking place September 10-15 in Nashville.

For the fourth straight week, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass has announced ten more artists for their 2019 festival which takes place in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on October 4-6. As with past lineup reveals, fans were treated to a sneak-peek audio clip of the soon-to-be-announced artists on HSB's social media accounts earlier this week. Upon hearing what HSB calls the weekly “artist medley,” fans hypothesized in the comment section about who might be added to the lineup.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass keeps the lineup announcements rolling this week. Through their traditional “artist medley” teases, fans were treated to a sneak-peek audio clip of unannounced artists on HSB's social media accounts earlier in the week. Today, HSB revealed ten new artists who will join the twenty previously announced artists for the festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park this October 4-6.

Canadian-born, New Zealand-based vocalist Tami Neilson is a firecracker.  Her music cannot be singularly categorized for she channels the spirits of Patsy Cline and Sharon Jones and beyond.  She's an artist with a tremendous range: there is her powerful big-ballad voice, her golden-age of country Americana, the heartfelt Gospel, soul-infused R'n'B, Western swing or belting old style Rock 'n' roll.  Tami encompasses them all and is a personality-powered cyclonic force of nature in stylishly retro attire, long lashes and a stacked-high beehive.  The UK's Guardian has asserted that “her powerhouse voice recalls 1950s stars such as Wanda Jackson and Patsy Cline.”

“The House That Built Me,” the newest song from Tanya Tucker's upcoming album While I'm Livin', debuts today. Made famous by Miranda Lambert, the song is one of the well-chosen covers on the release. In Tucker's version, the lyrics have been adapted to reflect the journey of a mother revisiting the home where she raised her family in order to find herself again.
