Singer/actress/songwriter/author/teacher Harriet Schock has had an incredible career in composing for TV and film. She still performs in live concerts around the globe, gives master classes in songwriting and is lauded for her great skill and humanity in writing songs that resonate with the human spirit. 'Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady' and 'First Time on a Ferris Wheel' are but two of her magnificent hit pop songs. Hollywood Casting and Film is announcing the creation of the Hollywood Talent Summit. The Summit will include a Talent Showcase, with actors performing scenes for a jury in front of a live audience, as well as successful Hollywood writers, directors, and producers, providing valuable exposure to actor and filmmaker performers. The Summit will be held February 28, 2019 in Hollywood, CA.

Actor Tanna Frederick ( Irene in Time, Hollywood Dreams ) has been inked as lead in the sci-fi drama SOUTH OF HOPE STREET

Every once in a while, I am treated to an amazing evening of theater featuring actors who step outside of themselves and totally encompass their characters every single moment they are onstage. With performances as riveting as any I have seen, Tanna Frederick and Robert Standley are marvels to behold as unlikely lovers Roberta and Danny in John Patrick Shanley's DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA, brilliantly directed with soulful abandon by Carl Weathers at the Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica. The Rainbow Theatre Company production is the show to see this summer!

There are undoubtedly other productions worthy of merit in 2016 which I did not cover. This list is based only on what I saw and reviewed. (alphabetical listings; Equity, Equity-waiver & Non-Equity productions are mixed) (artists performing outside LA may be included in performance categories) No set, costume, technical awards. I leave that to the bigger awards and to the expertise of those who really know those fields inside out.

In the 1995 comedy SYLVIA by A.R. Gurney, married couple Greg (Steve Howard revisiting the role he played with Tanna in 2011) and Kate (appropriately named Beege Barkette) are empty-nesters in the big city. In the opening scene, Greg and Sylvia arrive home after meeting in the park where Sylvia, a bouncy, frisky poodle mix, literally adopted Greg. Tanna jumps up and down, running around just as a new dog inside a home would react, her nervousness and excitement leading her to smell every single inch of the place, leave a liquid deposit, and then remind her new companion over and over again how he is her God she will love and respect forever - as long as he never hits her.

OVATION, maverick writer/director Henry Jaglom's (“Eating,” “Festival in Cannes') wonderfully empathic and infectious comedy, will open October 7 22 in NY at The Cinema Village (22 E. 13th Street St., off 5th Ave,) from The Rainbow Film Company AND will be released on DVD Tuesday, October 11.
