Internationally Acclaimed TILDA SWINTON... Comedy Returns To NYC For Limited Run April 18

After scoring with critics and audiences alike in LA, New York, London and Edinburgh, Byron Lane's absurd comedy TILDA SWINTON ANSWERS AN AD ON CRAIGS LIST* returns to New York for a limited engagement. Directed by Tom Detrinis (Bright Colors and Bold Patterns), it stars Tom Lenk (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Rock of Ages on Broadway) as Tilda Swinton and co-stars Byron Lane, Jayne Entwistle (Feud, Desperate Housewives) and Mark Jude Sullivan (Pan Am). Performances run April 18 - 28 at The Laurie Beechman Theatre.

NY City Opera to Feature Rotating Cast in AS ONE

New York City Opera has announced that Blythe Gaissert & Michael Kelly and Briana Elyse Hunter & Jorell Williams will comprise the rotating casts of its upcoming production of AS ONE.

John Eaton's Legacy Will Be Celebrated at Symphony Space

The John Eaton Foundation presents a very special concert to honor the beloved late composer on what would have been his 84th birthday on Saturday, March 30th at 8pm at Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Peter Norton Symphony Space. Celebrating John Eaton's Legacy will feature John Eaton's Sor Juana Songs as well as premieres and works by former students Richard Cameron-Wolfe, Winnie Cheung, Jalalu-Kalvert Nelson, Carol Ann Weaver, Marc Satterwhite, Eugene O'Brien, Patricia Morehead, Judith Sainte Croix and Randolph Peters. Empowered Women Run the Show: XAOC Contemporary Ballet Presents New Ballets By Female Choreographer With All-Female Company

Empowered women run the show at XAOC Contemporary Ballet, which presents its third full evening of work on April 7, 2019 at 7pm at the NY City Center Studios. The evening will feature the all-female company in seven original ballets by artistic director and choreographer Eryn Renee Young and a live piano performance of Schubert's Fantasie in F minor.

New Amsterdam Singers Will Perform Zigeunerlieder (Gypsy Songs)

In the second concert of its 51st season, New Amsterdam Singers (NAS) will perform Brahms's popular Zigeunerlieder (Gypsy Songs), along with choral works by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Wolf, and recent pieces by contemporary American composers Carol Barnett and Robert S. Irish Arts Center To Give Away Thousands Of Free Books On St. Patrick's Day

Fusion Theatre Launches Opera Series March 23

On March 23 and 30, Fusion Theatre will present Spinto Soprano Eilin O'Dea and Tenor Byron Holman in 'A Night at the Opera,' an evening of extracts (duets and arias) from 'Aida,' 'Tosca' and 'Madama Butterfly,' at Marc A. Scorca Hall of National Opera Center, 330 Seventh Ave., 7th floor.  Musical direction is by pianist Maestro Brian Holman. 

CHARLIE'S WAITING By Mêlisa Annis Starring Tony-Nominee Xanthe

Parity Productions, the New York based theater company dedicated to producing new work and filling at least 50% of the creative positions (playwrights, directors, and designers) with women and/or trans and gender nonconforming (TCNG) artists, has announced the full cast and crew for their world premiere production of Charlie's Waiting by Melisa Annis, Parity's 2017 Commission Winner, as well as an extension of the run. Charlie's Waiting will now play March 28 through April 20 at Theaterlab (357 W 36th St, New York, NY 10018) hosted by TLab Shares. The cast is led by Tony nominee Xanthe Elbrick (Broadway: Coram Boy, Candida), and features Stephanie Heitman (A Snowfall in Berlin), and Amy Scanlon (Balladeers Play to the Moon) and is directed by Parity Productions Artistic Director, Ludovica Villar Hauser. 

Gamelan Sekar Jaya Celebrates 40 Years At Harris Center

The most celebrated gamelan ensemble outside of Bali returns with a breathtaking mix of traditional and contemporary Balinese music and dance. Under the direction of internationally renowned gamelan composer and performer I Nyoman Windha and dance master I Nyoman Cerita, the 40-member Bay Area company honors its 40th Anniversary in an evening featuring two distinct music ensembles. Master performer and choreographer Cerita will lead company dancers in ethereal and dramatic pieces highlighting Balinese masked dance.  "A heavenly din and transcendent sound from the heart of the world" (London Financial Times).
