Lyric Unlimited, the branch of Lyric Opera of Chicago devoted to education, community engagement, and new artistic initiatives, is excited to announce its latest original opera for young audiences, Earth to Kenzie. Pianist, singer and songwriter Bruce Hornsby's summer tour kicks off tomorrow, June 18 inCharleston, SC. The run of dates includes additional stops in Denver, Charlotte,Asheville, Charlottesville and Atlanta that will feature a collaborative performance with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music's Rob Moose.

Grammy award-winning trumpeter Chris Botti will set the stage for the Deer Valley Music Festival as the first musical guest of the 16th season to perform with the Utah Symphony, with Deer Valley Music Festival Principal Conductor Conner Gray Covington leading the orchestra. The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF) honors the great French composer Michel Legrand, who died in January this year, with a special Cin Salon series devoted to his life and work. Curated by one of his longtime collaborators and greatest interpreters, singer and actress Melissa Errico, Summer of Michel Legrand brings together seven of his films from his best known triumphs such as The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Young Girls of Rochefort to lesser known gems such as the enchanting fairy-tale musical Donkey Skin. Screenings take place on Tuesdays in July at 4pm and 7:30pm in FIAF's Florence Gould Hall.

The American Film Institute (AFI), in partnership with AGBO Films, has announced Angela Chen (AFI Class of 2018) as the recipient of the inaugural AGBO/AFI Conservatory Development Grant. This new program awards $25,000 to a recent AFI Conservatory graduate to develop at least one project, with year-long mentorship from AGBO. Chen will receive the grant for her project TRIAD OF US, which tells the story of a broken Chinese immigrant family and their first-generation children in America. Told from multiple perspectives and based on true events, the story finds the young daughter unveiling dark family secrets as an assassination is executed and a sting operation is underway.

Yesterday marked the fifth annual Red Nose Day in the U.S., following activities and events across the country in recent weeks that brought together millions of Americans to have fun, make a difference, and raise money and awareness for children living in poverty. Red Nose Day has now raised more than $190 million in the campaign's first five years in the U.S., including nearly $40 million so far in the 2019 campaign with the fundraising ongoing through June and beyond.

Maelyn Jarmon, a 26-year-old artist originally from Frisco, Texas, and currently living in New York, was crowned champion of "The Voice" tonight. Jarmon stood out all season for both her stunning vocals and ability to master her sound as an artist deaf in one ear. The pop alternative singer earned Coach John Legend his first "Voice" win on the four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series.
