Pacific Symphony's 2019-20 Pops Season Announced

Megawatt stars light up the stage for Pacific Symphony's highly anticipated 2019-20 Pops series featuring seven not-to-be-missed concerts that include romance, Broadway, nostalgia, festive holiday cheer, classic rock and favorite film music-all enhanced by the "Hollywood" sound of the orchestra. Led by Pops Principal Conductor Richard Kaufman, the season blasts off Nov. 1 and 2 with "An Evening of Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber" featuring smash hits penned by two of Broadway's most acclaimed composers. The stellar Pops season continues with "Christmas with Marie Osmond" (Dec. 20-21), "Valentine's Day with Chris Botti" (Feb. 14-15, 2020), "A Night at the Copa" (March 13-14, 2020), "The Texas Tenors" (April 3-4, 2020), "Music of the Rolling Stones" (May 1-2, 2020), and culminating in a grand finale presenting two blockbuster film scores on the same program, "Star Wars vs. Star Trek" (June 5-6).

BMI Announces Top Honors For 67th Annual Pop Awards

BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) is pleased to celebrate an evening of exceptional songwriting at its 67th Annual BMI Pop Awards.  In an event 22 years in the making,Sting, already a BMI Icon, will be honored for his enduring hit single “Every Breath You Take,” which has become the Most Performed Song in BMI's catalog of over 14 million musical works.  The award ceremony will also celebrate multi-platinum GRAMMY Award-winning band Imagine Dragons with the BMI President's Award, and Martin Bandier, legendary music publishing executive, will be named a BMI Icon, the first time a music publisher has been given this honor. The private event will be hosted by BMI President and CEO Mike O'Neill and Vice President Worldwide Creative Barbara Cane and will take place on Tuesday, May 14th at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.

SUMMER OF SORCERY, the legendary rock 'n' rollers first album of new material, arrives May 3 via Wicked Cool/UMe. SUMMER OF SORCERY is available for pre-order now. The album will be released on CD, digitally and on vinyl as double LP on 180-gram black vinyl. In conjunction with the new album, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will bring his band to the State Theatre on Friday, July 26th.

Divine sitar player, acclaimed composer, and one of contemporary India's cultural gems, the award- winning artist will perform songs from her brand-new compilation album Reflections - which draws on classical ragas as well as contemporary cross-cultural pieces that showcase the versatility of the sitar across musical genres.
