Get ready for back-to-back nights of great opera and theater on the big screen! The Met Opera and National Theatre of London's seasons continue to be broadcast at The Ridgefield Playhouse as part of the FirstLight Home Care Classical Series.

Umberto Giordano’s exhilarating drama returns to the Met repertory for the first time in 25 years.

This December will see more great stage performances broadcast to the big screen of The Ridgefield Playhouse.

The Metropolitan Opera has announced the launch of The Met: Live at Home, a streaming platform that allows audiences to watch the Met’s acclaimed series of live simulcasts from any device in the comfort of their homes—the latest effort by the company to reach as broad a public as possible.

The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera's award-winning series of live high-definition cinema broadcasts, distributed in the UK by Trafalgar Releasing, will begin its 16th season this October with a live broadcast of Cherubini's rarely performed Medea.  From October 2022 – June 2023, ten incredible performances will be broadcast live from the Met stage in New York to cinemas worldwide. 

Great theater and opera are coming to the big screen of The Ridgefield Playhouse! The FirstLight Home Care Classical Series continues to present The MET Opera Summer Encore in HD with a screening of Puccini's La Bohème on Tuesday, September 13th at 7pm.

Witness the spirit of “the show must go!” as comedy and tragedy collide in Strauss's masterful opera Ariadne auf Naxos, screening LIVE from The Met Opera in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, May 15th at 12:55pm. The outstanding cast includes the exhilarating soprano Lise Davidsen in one of her signature roles to the Met for the first time as the titular mythological Greek heroine.

Patrick Furrer will conduct the final performance of Verdi’s Don Carlos today, Saturday, March 26th, replacing Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who has withdrawn due to illness. Furrer previously conducted the March 18 and 22 performances.

The 2021-22 season of The Met: Live in HD will continue with Verdi’s DON CARLOS on Saturday, March 26 at 12:00 pm in the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre.

DON CARLOS--Verdi’s original French language version, for the first time at the Met, of the opera better known in these parts as the Italian DON CARLO--was as grim as its setting in the Spanish inquisition in the new David McVicar production introduced last night. And about as long (though for once it ended earlier than expected)--Verdi's longest opera.

Before the opening night performance of Verdi's Don Carlos, the audience observed a moment of silence, followed by the Ukrainian national anthem, performed by the Met Orchestra and Chorus and conducted by Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Opening Night is September 27 with the company premiere of Cherubini’s Medea, starring soprano Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role alongside tenor Matthew Polenzani in David McVicar’s new staging, conducted by Carlo Rizzi.

After the successful first half of the 2021–22 season and a planned February break, the Metropolitan Opera will return with a slate of three new productions and 12 classic revivals for its spring season that runs February 28–June 11.
