From the moment the houselights dim and the music cranks up on The Cher Show, Broadway's newest bio-musical, the message is clear. Surrender to the fabulousness ahead and brace yourself for a show just as gutsy, glitzy and glam as the icon it ravishingly celebrates.
Grammy, Oscar, Golden Globe, and Emmy award-winning Cher is taking Broadway by storm in the brand new musical The Cher Show. While the superstar does not appear in the show herself, she has been known to take on a showtune or two in the past.

Superstars come and go. Cher is forever. For six straight decades, only one unstoppable force has flat-out dominated popular culture - breaking down barriers, pushing boundaries, and letting nothing and no one stand in her way. The Cher Show is her story, and it's packed with so much Cher that it takes three women to play her: The kid starting out, the glam pop star and the icon. The Cher Show is 35 smash hits, six decades of stardom, two rock-star husbands, a Grammy, an Oscar, an Emmy, and enough Bob Mackie gowns to cause a sequins shortage in New York City, all in one unabashedly fabulous new musical.
It's safe to say that Natalie Douglas is a little obsessed with Cher. Throughout TRIBUTES: CHER, the latest in her award-winning TRIBUTES series, Douglas made her way through the icon's life from her early career up to the present, both in song and in story. But the real focus of the July 16 show at Birdland wasn't necessarily in identifying with the woman, the myth, the legend that is Cher. (After all, how can anyone fully relate to someone for whom a phrase as simple as "Hi again" is a meme-able moment?)
The Cher Show cancelled its final performance in Chicago, which was set for today, July 15, due to a technical issue. The issue was announced to the audience shortly after the show was set to begin. A mini concert was performed in lieu of the full production, including 4 songs.
The pre-Broadway engagement of THE CHER SHOW has made its way to Chicago in a blaze of colorful, over-the-top energy and replete with the artist's chart-topping hits. Three utterly talented women share the title role: Broadway veteran Stephanie J. Block as Star, Teal Wicks as Lady, and newcomer Micaela Diamond as Babe. Together, these actors deliver a powerhouse trio of performances worthy of Cher herself. Diehard Cher fans will be pleased to know that such iconic songs as 'I Got You, Babe,' 'If I Could Turn Back Time,' and, of course, 'Believe' are in more than capable hands.
The Cher Show officially opened its pre-Broadway run in Chicago last night, June 28. Check out photos of the cast taking their opening night bows below!

Bio musicals are tricky in their own way, but what's it like when the source of the life's story is sitting in the fifth row? Stephanie J. Block, Jarrod Spector, and the cast of The Cher Show found this out firsthand when the iconic diva snuck in to see the show's Chicago debut. They chat with WGN about the experience and the show below!
