The Public Theater will present the Annual Gala performance of the groundbreaking and thought-provoking musical RUNAWAYS by Elizabeth Swados on Monday, June 11 at the Delacorte Theater. There will also be a free added public performance of the musical on Tuesday, June 12, open to all.

The Smithsonian's Archives of American Art announced that it is the beneficiary of a major promised gift from the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation: the expansive Roy Lichtenstein Foundation records and Roy Lichtenstein papers comprising over 500 linear feet. The gift constitutes the most complete research resource anywhere on the art and life of the artist and his times, illuminating Lichtenstein's wide-reaching influence and legacy. The foundation will support the digitization of the collection in collaboration with the Archives and will gift the papers in stages. Initial processing of these comprehensive records has begun, and access to the collection will be free and available on the Archives' website.
The Music Center welcomes the return of American Ballet Theatre (ABT) with the company's production of the 19th century classic ballet, La Bayadere, which will be performed at The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for the first time from July 13 - 15, 2018. The final engagement of the 15th season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center, La Bayadere is set in royal India and tells the story of eternal love, fate, vengeance and justice. The production will highlight ABT's stellar roster of international ballet stars, including Principal Dancers Isabella Boylston, Jeffrey Cirio, Misty Copeland, Hee Seo, Cory Stearns, Gillian Murphy, Devon Teuscher and Christine Shevchenko.
Schimmel Center will present Tony and Pulitzer Prize nominee Anna Deavere Smith's Obie Award-winning solo performance, Notes From the Field, for one weekend only on Friday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Today, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in preparation for a two week run at the Royal Court in London. The production is directed by Leonard Foglia and features original music composed and performed by bassist Marcus Shelby who joins Ms. Smith on stage.

Now celebrating its 40th year, the annual Museum Mile Festival takes place rain or shine on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Over 1.5 million people have taken part in this annual celebration since its inception. Festival attendees can walk the Mile on Fifth Avenue between 82nd Street and 105th Street while visiting six of New York City's finest cultural institutions, which are open free to the public throughout the evening. The Museum Mile Festival's opening ceremony takes place at 5:45pm at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street). Traditionally, the Commissioner of Cultural Affairs and other city and state dignitaries open the Festival.
Ensemble Connect-made up of some of the finest young professional classical musicians in the United States-performs a program of adventurous, contemporary works, including the New York City premiere of a new work by Andy Akiho in its first collaboration with the Rite of Summer Music Festival on Saturday, June 9 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Governors Island.
