Jewish Repertory Theatre Announces 2018/2019 Season ImageThe Jewish Repertory Theatre has announced its 2018/19 Sweet Sixteen Season.

"We are looking forward to bringing audiences JRT's first musical - THE STRUDEL LADY, followed by Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award winner - TALLEY'S FOLLY - and concluding with - LOOKING THROUGH GLASS - a new adaptation of one of the most classical Jewish dramas, S. Ansky's, "The Dybbuk," says Saul Elkin, JRT Founding Artistic Director. "We are pleased to offer audiences an entertaining season including two World Premieres, music, thought provoking stories and dramatic historical significance."

World Premiere!

THE STRUDEL LADY, BY SHIRL SOLOMON

October 4 -28, 2018

Chava, an American born, Orthodox wife and mother, is deserted by her husband and children. Embarrassed and confused about her identity and how to support herself financially, she seeks advice from a trusted older couple, who help her find independence, self-esteem and eventually love through her skill as a baker. The Strudel Lady is an entertaining and thought provoking musical story about marriage, Jewish traditions and the power of a well-made strudel.

Directed by Saul Elkin. Starring Lisa Ludwig, Tom Makar, David Marciniak,

and Mary Kate O'Connell.

TALLEY'S FOLLY, BY Lanford Wilson

February 7 - March 3, 2019

In a 1944 deserted Victorian boathouse on the Talley place in Lebanon, Missouri, Matt Friedman, an accountant from St. Louis, has arrived to plead his love to Sally Talley, the susceptible but uncertain daughter of the family. Bookish, erudite, totally honest, and delightfully funny, Matt refuses to accept Sally's rebuffs and her fears that her family would never approve of their marriage. Charming and indomitable, he gradually overcomes her defenses, telling his innermost secrets to his loved one and, in return, learning hers as well. Gradually it is clear that they are two kindred spirits who have truly found each other-two "lame ducks" who, in their union, will find a wholeness rare in human relationships.

Winner of the 1980 Pulitzer Prize and New York Drama Critics' Circle Award best play

of the season.

Directed by Steve Vaughan. Starring Chris J. Handley and Anne Roaldi Boucher.

World Premiere!

LOOKING THROUGH GLASS, BY KEN KAISSER

May 9 - June 2, 2019

After going against the wishes of her heart and marrying a man just to please her parents, Leah is possessed by the soul of her true love who she has met shortly before her planned wedding. Can an exorcism untangle their souls, or will they be forever entwined for the rest of eternity?

Set in our turbulent times, this haunting and romantic modern-day rendition of the Jewish classic: "The Dybbuk" by S. Ansky, reminds us love is a destiny which can't always be escaped.

Directed by Saul Elkin. Starring Arin Lee Dandes, Angelo J. Heimowitz, Thomas Loughlin, Tina Rausa and Nick Stevens.
