What did our critic think of INTO THE WOODS at Arvada Center?

How long does 'Happily Ever After' last? This fall the Arvada Center honors the late, great Stephen Sondheim with a unique take on his immensely popular musical, Into the Woods. The production runs September 9 - October 9, 2022.

The holidays always come with baggage. Winter events, gift giving, and family gatherings can quickly devolve into mayhem among the twinkling lights that line every streetlamp and window sill. Though, Arvada Center's current holiday production of Elf provides it's own sense of pandemonium.

There's a certain youthful feeling you get from 1960s music. Just ask the rows of ladies in front of me, who giddily sang along, tapping each other on the shoulders and giggling like they were teenagers again.

It's easy to see why Elf has become a modern-day Christmas classic, and the 2003 holiday flick starring Will Ferrell makes a smooth transition from screen to stage, even without Ferrell's infectious charm.

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities kicks off its holiday season with the hit Broadway musical ELF- The Musical directed by Gavin Mayer, opening November 20, 2018. ELF -The Musical is based off the popular 2003 film starring Will Ferrell, which became an instant holiday classic. This charming musical, perfect for audiences of all ages, follows Buddy the Elf on his journey to find his true family and revive their Christmas spirit. A "swellegant" theatrical party, spanning the life of the great and irrepressible wit, Cole Porter, this two-act revue traces Cole's career from Indiana to the world stages of New York, London, Paris and Venice, through his marriage, his friendships with the greats of his age and the tragic riding accident that crippled him in mid-career, physically, but not artistically.

There's no place like home for the holidays, and the Arvada Center is making sure of that this holiday season. I'll Be Home for Christmas is making its debut at the Center, featuring a broad selection of local talent.

The world premiere musical I'll Be Home For Christmas opens on the Arvada Center Main Stage on Friday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m.

The Colorado Theatre Guild's 11th Annual Henry Awards will take place Monday, July 18, 2016 at the PACE Center, 20000 Pikes Peak Avenue in Parker, Colorado. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and the awards ceremony will begin at 7 p.m., followed by an after-party.
