Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, an operatic fable about the power of music, returns to the Metropolitan Opera for the first time since 2011 for seven performances beginning October 20, 2019.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, starring Jonathan Groff, Tammy Blanchard and Christian Borle, opens October 17 at The Westside Theatre (407 W. 43rd St, NYC), where it plays through January 19, 2020. Check out a first look at the cast in action below!

One of Sydney's hottest comedy venues, Cafe Lounge Surry Hills, plays host to a brand new Musical Comedy show that has to be seen to be believed. Hosted, played and sung by Sarah Gaul (HOT MESS, TONIGHTLY) and Jacinta Gregory (HOLT! THE MUSICAL), this show is your classic inner-west EP launch - except every single song is totally improvised based on suggestions from the audience.

There's a new Dance Movie, which opened nationwide Friday, October 11th, that's sure to advance the genre in popularity.  In the last few decades “Dirty Dancing,” “Footloose,” “Flashdance,” “Saturday Night Fever,” “Staying Alive” and more recently “La La Land” all caused quite a stir when they hit theatres, and many of them are still quite popular today.   “High Strung Free Dance” and it's predecessor “High Strung' (2016) has everything you could want to see and hear in a film about dance, music and dancers. Written and produced by professional dancer Janine Best Damian “Solid Gold” and numerous film and television appearances, and her talented actor/singer/director/composer/husband Michael Damian (Joseph in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”/Broadway; 18 years appearing on “The Young and the Restless,” among many other credits for directing, as a vocalist and creating soundtracks for films he's also directed). This latest film is one out of 13 films he has written and produced with Janeen, as well as directed; ”Marley and Me: The Puppy Years,' the “Flicka” franchise, and more.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Tom Hewitt​​​​​​​, Nick Adams, and Lesli Margherita and more will join The Skivvies as they return to Joe's Pub on Halloween night! In October and November this year, the Seymour Centre will present The Underpants by Oscar-winning comedy legend, Steve Martin. Adapted from Carl Sternheim's play, this is a wild satire that will have audiences laughing out loud.

Running for five weeks, this three-show alternating repertory season will open with deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical Little Shop of Horrors.

Emmy and 2019 Tony Award-winning actor, singer, dancer, director, choreographer, playwright and educator André De Shields received the 2019 Project1Voice Lifetime Achievement Award.

Turning Point Ensemble (TPE) is excited to kick off its 2019/20 Season with a concert of musical innovators present and past, featuring Couloir, the harp and cello duo of Heidi Krutzen and Ariel Barnes. The concert will include two premiere works, The Razor Hiss of a Whisper, by James Maxwell for TPE, Couloir and electronics soundscape and And/Or by Anthony Tan for TPE and electronics. The concert will also include pieces by Ruth Crawford Seeger and Sabrina Schroeder.  The concert is being performed on Nov. 9 & 11th at 7:30pm at the Orpheum Annex, 823 Seymour. St, Vancouver.

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival announced today that Renée Zellweger is set to receive the illustrious American Riviera Award in January 2020. Zellweger will be recognized for her many attributes to the art of film over the years, and most recently, her work as Judy Garland in LD Entertainment and Roadside Attractions' JUDY. The tribute will take place at the historic Arlington Theatre during the 35th Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

TexARTS celebrates the Halloween season with the delicious Broadway sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop of Horrors. Seymour, a meek floral assistant and his bloodthirsty, man-eating plant take the TexARTS Kam & James Morris Stage this October.

At its core, the original production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (and the movie adaptation it spawned) unabashedly celebrated its campy outlandishness. But unlike the original source material which was filled to the brim with sassy sight gags, cartoonish mannerisms, and pulp thrills, this new, gloriously reimagined production---now on stage at the Pasadena Playhouse through October 20, 2019 helmed by director Mike Donahue---feels much more grounded in reality and feels much more guided by the emotions of its characters, rather than have them just play second banana to the monstrous plant of excess vying for all the attention. With this pivoted focus, this incredible new production also now requires a cast of performers that can truly showcase that change---and, wow, did they ever find them in this brilliant ensemble!

On Saturday, October 5, I had the pleasure of seeing yet another stellar performance at the ACT of Connecticut, in Ridgefield, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.  Having never seen this show or the movie before, I was not familiar with the story, and had no idea how intense the horror side of this show would be, as I was under the impression that comedy was the primary genre.  This musical, with music by Alan Menken, captured the attention of the entire audience, generating laughs from the comedic moments, impressing us with the powerful singing, and shocking with the horror, all of which was brilliantly performed by this first-rate cast, under the brilliant direction and choreography of Jason A. Sparks.

On Saturday, October 26th, the APSU Department of Theatre and Dance and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) will present a public Q&A with Tony winning director and Acuff chair Freddie Ashley.

The Old Globe's world premiere musical Almost Famous, with book and lyrics by Academy Award winner and San Diego native Cameron Crowe, opened just last week on September 27.
