HERE THERE ARE BLUEBERRIES, THE MOUNTAINTOP, and KING JAMES Set for Detroit Public Theatre 2025–2026 Season

Detroit Public Theatre has announced its 11th season, which will feature a mix of new work, contemporary classics, and audience favorites. The season opens October 1, 2025, with the first licensed U.S. production of Here There Are Blueberries, and will conclude in June 2026 with King James, Rajiv Joseph’s acclaimed exploration of friendship through basketball.

Detroit Public Theatre and Harlem9 Will Present 48HOURS IN...DETROIT

Detroit Public Theatre (DPT) is thrilled to announce that they will be collaborating with the OBIE Award-winning, Harlem9, for a second 48Hours in...™Detroit play festival. The festival will follow the same format as the first 48Hours in...™Detroit, which took place in 2019 and consisted of 6 new 10-minute plays created over the course of 48 hours by native and current Detroit artists.

BWW Previews: Newly Honored MacArthur Foundation Genius Fellow Dominique Morisseau's PIPELINE is Detroit Public Theatre's Season Opener

Yesterday was a banner day for native Detroiter and prolific playwright Dominique Morisseau. The MacArthur Foundation named her one of 25 creatives to receive a no-strings-attached $625,000 five-year 'Genius Grant.' The film of Lincoln Center's production of her play Pipeline was released for a very limited nationwide screening and it was the first preview performance that night of Pipeline, the headliner for Detroit Public Theatre's (DPT) Fourth Season. BroadwayWorld Detroit spoke with DPT Pipeline Director, Candis C. Jones, and DPT Co-Producing Artistic Director Sarah Winkler, before Pipeline's official opening night on Oct. 6 and here's what they had to say:
