BEOWULF lands in NYC next week

AUTOJEU THEATRE of the UK, in association with SoHo Playhouse's FRINGE ENCORES series, presents the US premiere of BEOWULF at SoHo Playhouse. This age-old tale is brought to life as never before in a physical, musical, and very funny play co-conceived by London artists Sam Gibbs and Pete Buffery. The limited New York engagement will play the Huron Club at SoHo Playhouse, 15 Vandam Street, New York, NY 10013. Performances begin Tuesday, December 11th and continue through Sunday, December 16th. Darren Lee Cole, producing director of the not-for-profit, SoHo Playhouse (15 Van Dam Street) is proud to announce this year's selections for this year's Fringe Encore Series, featuring the "Best of the Fests" from around the globe. This year's selections come from Fringe Festivals at Brighton, Edinburgh, Hollywood, Limerick, Orlando, Toronto and New York (to be announced soon) and will take place between November 6 - December 16, 2018. Tickets are $39/$25 and can be purchased by visiting www.fringeencores.org.

This August, Stairwell Theater presents a workshop showing of William Shakespeare's 'Romeo & Juliet'. Set in a decaying contemporary society where team sports inform law, justice, and politics - can love defeat tribalism and break the game before the final buzzer? When does competition turn into violence? An athletic ensemble will tackle Shakespeare's best loved tragedy through a unique physical vocabulary informed by dance, team sports and original music.

The Steinberg Theater Group presents TEREZIN, written and directed by Nicholas Tolkien, the great grandson of novelist J.R.R. Tolkien (The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings trilogy), making its world premiere at New York's Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 W. 42nd Street, 4th Floor) for a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, July 2, 2017. Opening Night is set for tonight, June 20 at 7:00pm.
