The awards ceremony, in which the winners will be revealed, has been scheduled for the evening of Monday, April 17, 2023 at the Samueli Theater at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.
The producers and Segerstrom Center for the Arts are pleased to announce casting for the national tour of Roald Dahl's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, which will play Segerstrom Hall May 28 - June 9, 2019. As previously announced, Broadway veteran Noah Weisberg (South Pacific, Enron, Elf, Legally Blonde) will star as the extraordinary chocolate maker, Willy Wonka, with Henry Boshart (age 10), Collin Jeffery (age 11) and Rueby Wood (age 11), alternating in the title role of Charlie Bucket.
The Boston premiere of the US National Tour of Roald Dahl's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY opened at the Boston Opera House this week, just a year after the Broadway production closed. The core of the Broadway creative team brings in a 36-member cast, including the beguiling candy man Willy Wonka and the Oompa Loompas, his odd little troupe of orange-haired factory workers.
The tour opened last month in Buffalo, NY to rave reviews and set a new record as the highest grossing and attended tour launch in Shea's history. Just finishing its third week in Chicago, the tour continues to delight audiences. Get a look at the tour below!

Though the classic musical A Chorus Line may be produced fairly consistently, it is always refreshing to see a good quality, professional, local production. This is exactly what you'll get when you see the Tony winner running through May 26th at Long Island's historic Gateway Playhouse soon to be celebrating their 70th year. The large Broadway caliber cast is brilliantly directed and choreographed by Mitzi Hamilton who has had a long association with the show including the original Broadway production.

THE PRODUCERS has the odd pedigree of being a movie (1967) that became a Broadway musical (2001) and then returned to the silver screen as a movie version of the 2001 musical (2005). With this many iterations on offer, it's clear that this is a show with staying power that it beloved by many. The mind of Mel Brooks is a twisted space to spend some time in, but even the subtle cringiness that comes with good satire doesn't last long, as the laughs keep coming. It can be difficult to find humor in mocking nazis so close on the heels of the white supremacy rally in Charlottesville, VA, but it's still very satisfying to, probably even more than when the musical premiered. Even so, there is a bit of queasiness that comes from looking at so many swastikas, and it's hard to shake.
THE PRODUCERS is playing at Theatre By The Sea, in Wakefield, RI, through September 10, and BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
