The Gateway theatre company's thrilling production of Flashdance, The Musical, is truly an electric way to end their busy Summer season. The sensational regional premiere, running through September 15th at the Patchogue Theatre, is excellently directed by Keith Andrews and boasts an absolutely superb cast. And though it is based on the famous 1983 movie, fans of the movie (like myself!) will notice several changes and will be pleasantly pleased in the stage incarnation.

Produced by Live Nation, the six-week outdoor amphitheater tour kicks off July 22 and make stops in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, New York and many more before wrapping September 2. Lucia Berlin:Stories opens with press performances February 17 & 18, Saturday 8 PM and Sunday 3 PM (previews Feb. 14 - 16). The stories are from Lucia Berlin's posthumously published, critically acclaimed, A Manual for Cleaning Women featuring the stories 'Her First Detox', 'Emergency Room Notebook 1977', 'Unmanageable', '502' and 'Here It Is Saturday'. Directed by Nancy Shelby and JoAnne Winter, Lucia Berlin:Stories is set to an evocative jazz score by Marcus Shelby, and illuminated with vibrant projections by Naomie Kremer. The Williams Project, in partnership with Emerald City Bible Fellowship and Franklin High School, presents James Baldwin's classic American play Blues for Mister Charlie. Baldwin's rarely produced masterpiece explores race and violence in the United States with honesty, music, dark humor, and compassion. Blues for Mister Charlie will run September 6 - 10, 2017 at Emerald City Bible Fellowship and September 13 - 17, 2017 at Franklin High School. Opening night is September 7, 2017. Each performance of Blues for Mister Charlie will be followed by a facilitated discussion, featuring leadership from the community hosting the performance and Williams Project artists.
