Scenes for Survival, the innovative digital project created by the National Theatre of Scotland in response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, will draw to a close this week with the final four short films in the series set to be released online from today.  

Scottish stars of stage and screen, including John Barrowman, Elaine C Smith and Alex Norton with nearly thirty West End performers, have together recorded a spirit-lifting rendition of Beautiful City from Stephen Schwartz's musical Godspell.

It has today been announced that Curve theatre is extending the run of its critically-acclaimed Made at Curve production of the classic musical, West Side Story.

Made at Curve presents West Side Story, running in Leicester this Christmas 23 Nov 2019 – 11 Jan 2020.

Curve's production of the timeless Broadway musical West Side Story will be directed by Curve's Artistic Director Nikolai Foster. Ellen Kane, who is currently working on the Universal/Working Title film of Cats and whose previous work includes RSC's Matilda the Musical, as well as co-choreography of the Tony and Olivier Award-nominated Groundhog Day, will be creating new choreography for the production.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, a London workshop recently took place for Andrew Lloyd Webber's modern musical remake of Cinderella, which welcomed some of Broadway's most notable producers and theatre owners. Now the composer has revealed in an recent interview with Good Morning Britain that the musical will open on Broadway next year.

Following the first ever UK & Ireland tour of Titanic The Musical in 2018, casting has been revealed as the production prepares for its 2019 worldwide tour. After opening at the New Victoria Theatre, Woking on 11 July 2019, the production led by returning director Thom Southerland will tour across the world until 15 December 2019.

Foster directs Delroy Atkinson (Gangster 1), Edward Baker-Duly (Fred), Cindy Belliot (Hattie), John Conroy (Baptista), Dafydd Emyr (Harrison Howell), Dex Lee (Bill), Rebecca Lock (Lilli), Ross McLaren (Gremio), Joel Montague (Gangster 2), Adam Rhys-Charles (Hortensio), Amy Ellen Richardson (Lois), Matthew Whennell-Clark (Ralph) and Layton Williams (Paul), with Jessica Buckby, Ronan Burns, Louis Gaunt, Ruby Greenwood, Tash Holway (also Assistant Choreographer and Dance Captain), Jennifer Louise Jones, Bobbie Little, Emmanuele N'Zuzi, Simon Oskarsson and Clancy Ryan. The production opens on 12 December, with previews from 7 December, and runs until 12 January 2019.

The full company has been confirmed for Chichester Festival Theatre's summer musical ME AND MY GIRL, directed by Daniel Evans and running from 2 July - 25 August (press night: 9 July).

The Lyric Hammersmith's critically acclaimed stage production of Sir Alan Parker's Bugsy Malone, directed by Sean Holmes, will end its scheduled run at the Lyric on Sunday 4 September 2016.
