Leeds Playhouse has revealed the full cast for Brassed Off, a major new staging directed by Olivier Award‑nominated and UK Theatre Awards winner Amy Leach.

Chester Storyhouse has announced the complete cast for its upcoming production of MACBETH, set to open in January 2026. The classic Shakespearean tragedy will feature a blend of seasoned actors and fresh talent, promising a compelling interpretation of the timeless play.

Rose Theatre and Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Theatres in association with Swinging The Lens have announced full casting and further creative team for William Shakespeare's Richard III, directed by and starring Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury in Bridgerton). 

Mint Theater Company returns to New York City Ce nter Stage II with the American premiere of Noël Coward’s The Rat Trap, directed by Alexander Lass, opening Monday November 21st (7pm) at New York City Center Stage II for a limited Off-Broadway engagement through December 10th only. 

The Mint Theater company will be presenting the American Premiere of Noel Coward's The Rap Trap, and the world premiere of Becomes a Woman by Betty Smith (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn).

In a season of numerous versions of A Christmas Carol, modern or traditional, musical or dramatic, streamed or live, with puppets or people, this production from the Guildford Shakespeare Company and Jermyn Street Theatre is a welcome addition to festivities.

"Past Perfect," a one-act play by Award-winning New York playwright Philip Holt, is returning to London at the Etcetera Theatre, Camden Town, from Monday 1st July to Saturday 6th July and will be performed at the RADA Festival on Wednesday 3rd July at 4pm.

The UK Tour of Moira Buffini's Gabriel opens in London at Richmond Theatre on Tuesday 28 March 2017, with a national press night on Friday 31 March 2017. This will be the 20th anniversary production of Gabriel and is only the second professional production since it was first staged at the Soho Theatre in 1997.

In a plot more than a little reminiscent of Daphne du Maurier, Gabriel sees Jeanne Becquet is trying to keep her young daughter and Jewish daughter-in-law safe under the ever-increasing threat of the Nazis in German-occupied Guernsey in 1943. When a young man washes up on the shore near the house, it is not clear who he is or where he comes from. Fluent in both German and English, it becomes increasingly clear that his presence in her house is incredibly dangerous and one wrong move could spell disaster for Jeanne and those closest to her.

Set in 1943 Nazi-occupied Guernsey, widow and mother Jeanne does whatever it takes to keep her adolescent daughter Estelle and daughter-in-law Lily safe on an island filled with danger and fear. Her toughest test arrives in the form of the terrifying Commander Von Pfunz, whose romantic advances may be the only way to keep her family alive, but tensions intensify when a mysterious young man is washed ashore with no memory of who he is.

Birmingham Repertory Theatre, in association with Ramps On The Moon, presents THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR, written by Nikolai Gogol, adapted by David Harrower and directed by Roxana Silbert. The play will tour the UK from 19th March to 25th June 2016.

With an original publication date back in 1836, Nikolai Gogol's satirical play The Government Inspector is certainly not new writing. Some 180 years on, the text centring on greed and political anarchy in Russia is still being performed. The storyline has had a wealth of incarnations over the years in film, theatre and TV; including a particularly memorable episode of Fawlty Towers. Ultimately a comedy, the play tells of a town expecting a visit from a Government Inspector and before this happens, the Mayor has to try and tidy up/hide all of his wrong doings towards the discontented local people. When a well-dressed and seemingly charming gentleman Khlestakov arrives, the townsfolk all jump to the conclusion that he is the Inspector. But is he?

A vibrant new staging of the great Russian comedy, The Government Inspector, opens at Birmingham Repertory Theatre in March before touring to Ipswich, Leeds, Nottingham, Stratford East, Liverpool and Sheffield.  Directed by Roxana Silbert and adapted by Olivier Award-winning playwright, David Harrower, this fresh, modern version of The Government Inspector, with innovative projection and set design reinvigorates Gogol's satirical masterpiece for 2016.

Following the successful adaptations of Moliere's French farces, this Christmas the Playhouse presents another fresh adaptation of a classic French comedy. Liverpool-born writer Stephen Sharkey has created the hilarious and absurd Sex and the Three Day Week from Georges Feydeau's L'Hotel du Libre Echange. The cast includes Edward Harrison, Natalie Casey, Javier Marzan and Eileen O'Brien and runs from Friday 5 December 2014 to Saturday 10 January 2015.

Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz will direct Sean O'Casey's Juno and the Paycock in a major co-production with Bristol Old Vic. The cast will be led by Niamh Cusack as the eponymous Juno and Des McAleer as her husband Jack Boyle. The production is at Bristol Old Vic from 5 to 27 September before moving to the Liverpool Playhouse from 1 to 18 October.
