The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), will host a conversation entitled 'Producing Theatre for an Ageless Audience', moderated by Linda Hartzell, SDC Foundation Trustee and Artistic Director Emerita of Seattle Children's Theatre, with luminary directors Mark Brokaw and Marcia Milgrom Dodge and playwright Timothy Allen McDonald on Monday May, 20, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM at SDC, 321 W. 44th St., Suite 804.

The Muny announced today its complete cast, design and production team for Kinky Boots, the second show of its second century, June 19 - 25.

A local cast of 39 young actors will present Willy Wonka Jr. on the MainStage at Arkansas Repertory Theatre this summer. The production, which runs June 21-30, is based on the classic tale by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The National Theatre's 2019-2020 Broadway at the National season continues with an unprecedented lineup of a dozen shows.

Macomb Civic Theatre (MCT) will be the first community theater group in Macomb County to perform the Tony Award winning production Matilda the Musical, since licensing became available in November 2018. Performances will take place at Stevenson High School, in Sterling Heights, MI from June 6-9, 2019. The cast age range (4 years old to 'over 50') reflects not only the diversity of MCT, but the fact that families and audiences of all ages will enjoy the humor, and message of Matilda.

Walnut Street Theatre concludes its thrilling 210th season with the award-winning Broadway hit, LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL. Directed and choreographed by Richard Stafford, the high-energy musical begins previews on May 14, opens May 22, and continues through July 14.

Principal photography has begun on “The Witches,” a fantastical adventure from Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis (“Forrest Gump”), starring Oscar winners Anne Hathaway (“Les Misérables,” “Ocean's 8”) and Octavia Spencer (“The Help,” “The Shape of Water”), Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci (“The Hunger Games” films, “The Lovely Bones”), and award-winning comedy legend Chris Rock. With one of the largest arts-in-education programs in the United States, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts is collaborating with industry leader Music Theatre International (MTI) on a new musical for young audiences, Matilda Jr. which comes to life in the Amaturo Theater on Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. Based upon Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical, which was nominated for 12 Tony Awards® for its blockbuster Broadway production, Matilda Jr. follows a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers who must contend with a mean headmistress who hates children and loves thinking up punishments for those who don't abide by her harsh rules.

Wonder and amazement abound! Drury Lane Theatre announces casting for its Regional Premiere of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical, featuring Chicago resident Audrey Edwards and Warrenville native Natalie Galla sharing the title role. With book by Dennis Kelly, music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and orchestrations and additional music by Chris Nightingale, Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical is directed and choreographed by Mitch Sebastian and runs April 26 June 23, 2019, at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace.

The Walnut Street Theatre for Kids Series (WST for Kids) concludes its season with FLY GUY: The Musical, running from May 31 - June 8. In this WST for Kids finale, audiences will follow along with a boy named "Buzz" and his pet fly, "Fly Guy," for a wacky adventure and small-but-mighty fun!

This high-school-musical season, I got a sneak peek at Santa Barbara High's 'Matilda: The Musical,' with a tour of the innovative set. It's a found-art, craftsy manifestation of the outlandish imagination of 'Matilda' author Roald Dahl. If you didn't read Matilda as a child, get ready for an underdog story featuring an extraordinary girl who inspires her fellow classmates to rise against the oppression of their terrifying headmistress, 'The Trunchbull'.
