Chicago Shakespeare Theater has announced today that it will stage the World Premiere musical The Notebook, based on the classic best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks that inspired the hugely popular film. Another video from the Stages Musical Theatre Festival was just released this week. New Musicals Inc. aired 51 hours of live streamcast footage of musical theatre readings, concerts, creative sessions, as well as interviews with writers and producers, all part of the most recent Stages Musical Theatre Festival. The Festival ran for fifteen years in Chicago before New Musicals Inc. brought it to the West Coast about a decade ago.

The Sarah Siddons Society of Chicago honored its 2017 recipients of the prestigious Actor of the Year Award in a lavish event this week at the Hilton Orrington Hotel in Evanston. Kate Baldwin, this year's HELLO DOLLY! Tony nominee for Best Supporting Actress, and Kate Shindle, 1998 Miss America, and current star of the national tour of FUN HOME, received their award at a Gala Awards event on Monday, September 18th, at the Hilton Orrington Hotel in Evanston.
