Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre has announced that its $6 million Live Music Appeal, which was launched at the start of the organization's 50th season in 2019, has been achieved. This momentous occasion, which was accomplished under the leadership of outgoing Executive Director Harris Ferris, ensures that the PBT Orchestra will provide live music at PBT performances for the next 50 years and beyond.

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) invites community members to experience live arts performances at Open Air: A Series in Celebration of the Performing Arts, starting this Thursday, June 9 and running through Sunday, June 12.

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center today announced a generous $1.35 million grant from the Richard King Mellon Foundation in support of the Center’s ongoing work.

After a year of darkened theaters Downtown, Pittsburgh's performing artists are stepping out into the light. Thanks to a new mobile stage purchased by the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT), they will debut an “Open Air” series of live, outdoor performances like no other on the lawn at Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park this May.

In response to ongoing public health guidance and regulations on indoor assembly, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre will not return to the theater for the remainder of its 2020-2021 Season. Performances impacted by this decision include performances of 'Cinderella' with the PBT Orchestra (Feb. 12-14, 2021), and more.

Quantum Theatre has announced the launch of its newest initiative a?' NearBuy, a partnership supporting restaurants and businesses local to the neighborhoods that will host its 2020-2021 season. The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra (COYO) will make a seven day, four concert tour to Europe this spring with COYO Music Director Vinay Parameswaran, who also serves as assistant conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra. The ensemble will perform a program featuring Brahms, Bartok, and Adams in Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary from June 12-19, 2019. These performances mark the third international tour in COYO's 33-year history.

The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Most have announced that Nathaniel Silberschlag will join the Orchestra as Principal Horn beginning the week of August 5. Mr. Silberschlag will sit in The Cleveland Orchestra's George Szell Memorial Endowed Chair.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced the winners for THE EE BRITISH ACADEMY FILM AWARDS. The BAFTA Awards ceremony was held today, February 18th, at London's Royal Albert Hall. Among the top winners were 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' and 'The Shape of Water.'

PITTSBURGH CLO is pleased to welcome a collection of writing teams from across the country to Pittsburgh for the inaugural SPARK festival in March. These teams were chosen from a highly-selective submissions process and will have the opportunity to rehearse and revise their work in residencies ranging from two days to three weeks. SPARK will provide dramaturgy and production resources to 10 new musicals at all stages of development, in addition to the world premiere of UP AND AWAY. As a part of the development period, eight of the musicals will receive public presentations through which the writing teams can gather audience insights and focus their intentions for the next phase of development. A major initiative of Pittsburgh CLO's recently completed Next Generation Capital Campaign, SPARK is designed to cultivate new and innovative work from emerging and established musical theater artists.
